Competition and Creativity with big dash of Healthy Benefits

For 16 years the Healthy Chef competition has been challenging groups of BC based culinary schools, hotels and restaurants to gather their fruits, herbs and vegetables, square off against each and create fantastic plates where the produce is the star.

On Wednesday, March 25th The British Columbia Chef’s Association (BCCA) and the British Columbia Produce Marketing Association (BCPMA) will again collaborate for a common cause: to anchor in people’s minds that healthy foods and delicious foods can be one and the same.

Held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, as the guests arrive at their table, they receive an envelope that lets them know whose gourmet dinner and desert they have been selected to enjoy. It will differ from most everyone else at their table. That is what makes this event so engaging.

Four Willows

Hosted by CTV’s Marke Driesschen, the evening continues with music, light entertainment, silent and live auctions and culminates with the Awards Ceremony.  Judged by panel of certified chefs from the BCCA, the properties vie for awards in a variety of categories including Best Entrée, People’s Choice and the Healthy Plate Award. Participating restaurants include:

  • Burnaby Central High School Ace-It Program – Chef Stephen Wade
  • Mosaic Grill/Grain Tasting Bar – Hyatt Regency Vancouver – Chef Jeff Szombaty
  • The Wild Fig Restaurant – Sous Chef  Sherwin Batac
  • Tivoli’s Restaurant – Chef Cory White
  • Torafuku – Chef Clement Chan

Ticket includes appetizer, entrée and dessert, a swag box of fresh produce to take home, entertainment and the awards ceremony. Tickets are $90.00.
