HARRY SOO, STAR OF THE HIT TV SERIES, “BBQ PITMASTERS” TO COMPETE AT THE 2010 WELL SEASONED BBQ ON THE BYPASS

Langley competition will mark Soo’s first ever international event on Sunday, September 19th
Organizers of B.C.’s hottest barbecue competition are pleased to announce that Harry Soo, one of North America’s most high profile barbecue celebrities will be competing in the fifth annual Well Seasoned BBQ on the Bypass on Sunday, September 19th in Langley. Soo is one of seven featured barbecue chefs on TLC’s, BBQ Pitmasters, a docu-drama TV series that chronicles the trials and tribulations of chefs competing in the U.S. circuit. This will be Soo’s first ever competition outside of the United States. He and his team mate Mark Tung, together known as “Slap Yo’ Daddy”, will be one of dozens of teams competing on September 19th for the coveted title of Grand Champion at the BBQ on the Bypass.

“We’re extremely honoured Harry has chosen our event to be his very first Canadian competition,” said Angie Quaale, owner of Well Seasoned and organizer of the BBQ on the Bypass. “We know Harry’s presence is going to raise the bar of this competition and add to the overall excitement of our event. We fully expect crowds to gather when Harry’s fans turn out in droves to catch him in action.”

As part of Soo’s visit to Langley, he’ll be instructing an outdoor barbeque cooking class at Well Seasoned on Friday, September 17th where he’ll demonstrate his award winning techniques and recipes for an intimate class. Soo has been competing in barbeque competitions since 2008. In just two short years, he went from barbequing on the weekends for family and friends in California to competing all over the U.S. in front of millions of TV viewers. With two Grand Champion titles already in 2010, Soo’s goal is to compete is as many contests as possible and one day place with the best of the best at the Jack Daniels World BBQ Championship in Tennessee.

The Well Seasoned BBQ on the Bypass is B.C.’s hottest barbecue competition, attracting thousands of barbecue fans and competitors every year. The event is free to the public and is a fun filled day of barbecue samples, entertainment, concessions, and competition between some of the region’s best barbeque teams. The BBQ on the Bypass is also home of the B.C. BBQ Championship and the Great B.C. Bake Off, a blue ribbon pie competition open to the public.
