All-You-Can-Eat BBQ Dinners, BBQ Competitions and Live Music Make For A Food and Fun-Filled Weekend

Grill masters across North America are putting the final touches on their BBQ sauces and smoking techniques as they prepare to face off at the Bulleit Bourbon Canadian National BBQ Championships in Whistler from August 1 to 3. This will be the 13th year in a row that the highlight of the Pacific Northwest’s competitive BBQ circuit returns to Dusty’s Bar & BBQ in Whistler’s Creekside but this year a new title sponsor brings new flavour to the tasty summer event.

Competitors will battle it out over two days of competition for over $7,000 in cash and prizes, and the chance to win an invitation to the BBQ World Championships in Lynchburg, Tennessee. Competitions include the Backyard Burger Championship, the Budweiser King of the Grill, the CASI Canadian International Chili Championship and a main event which determines the Grand Champion through a cook-off of Pork Butt, Beef Brisket, Chicken, Ribs and the Ravenswood Cork & Pork. Spectators are free to explore the competition groups, sample the food by donation or attend two ticketed dinners on Friday and Saturday evenings.

“The Canadian National BBQ Championships is a fantastic time for food-lovers of all ages to celebrate BBQ, one of our favorite summer pastimes in Whistler,” says Joshua Kearns, Dusty’s Bar & BBQ Manager. “With Bulleit Bourbon behind the event this year there will be a new and exciting energy at the Dusty’s and in Creekside Village for the long weekend.”

The ever-popular WHOLE LOTTA RIBS dinner will kick off the weekend on Friday, August 1, including mouth-watering all-you-can-eat ribs and a concert from the infamous Led Zeppelin cover band, WHOLE LOTTA LED.  On Saturday, the BBQ competitions will begin with food samples and live music during the day followed by a Bottomless BBQ Buffet Dinner and another night of great live music.  Food samples will be available by donation with all proceeds going to Playground Builders.  The team that raises the most money will win a paid trip and entry into next year’s competition so guests can be sure that the samples will be plentiful. A $1 Pancake Breakfast will start the day on Sunday before the main BBQ competitions finish off the weekend.
