An elegant room, with a 360 degree view of Vancouver, the vistas balance the tastes and flavours being served.

Each station showcases our Chocolate Festival Partners. Each ticket is all inclusive of the stations located all around Vistas. Samples abound, with the opportunity to purchase products at every station. Who could resist that special box of single origin chocolates that XOXOLAT is sampling. Or the fine selection of Chocolates from Rubens Chocolate?

Starting with Prosecco served by Marcus von Albrecht each guest will enjoy the Bisol Winery of Veneto, Italy – Colmei Valdobbiadene Prosecco – Elegant and full, with pronounced fruitiness, the Flavour is well rounded and youthful, soft with emerging fruitiness. Finding a chocolate, savoury or canapé to compliment this fine beverage would be a wonderful taste excursion.

The next beverage to surprise and entice may be the martinis – chocolate or otherwise. The new XFour Vodka, Handcrafted here in BC in the Okanagan will certainly enhance the conversation.

TimesFour (XFour) is B.C’s first handcrafted premium corn and rye based vodka. Handcrafted and distilled four times by master distiller Frank Deiter who has accumulated over 70 awards for his line of spirits; Xfour is completely additive free and fed with British Columbia’s own pristine glacier water retrieved from a 356 ft deep well. A crystal clear complexion, with hints of fruit and anise.

The canapés and appetizers made by Chef Kevin Greehy will be passed all evening. A delicious assortment of local ingredients, showcasing the talents of the Renaissances’ award winning chef, Chef’s newest restaurant in the hotel, p2b bistro & bar, is a modern, upscale-casual bistro emphasizing fresh, local, and sustainable ingredients used to deliver simply prepared, chef crafted food.

The grazing stations include chocolates from XOXOLAT, Rubens Chocolate, samples of chocolate afternoon tea from Rowena’s Inn on the River, wines from Saturna Island Winery, Desert Hills Winery, Quady Winery, tea, and coffee – a true taste of the festival events that abound across the lower mainland for the next 29 days.

With just one month to go until the fifth annual BBQ On The Bypass on Sunday, September 19th, organizers have secured a record number of participating sponsors, competitive BBQ teams and vendors for the biggest and best event yet. New this year is the Great B.C. Bake Off, an amateur pie and tart baking competition; an expanded concession area; and a “Mini Pitmasters” tent with activities for young children. The event will be co-emceed by bestselling cookbook author and international BBQ champion, Rockin’ Ronnie Shewchuk and B.C.’s BBQ Queen, owner of Well Seasoned and the event’s organizer, Angie Quaale. The esteemed panel of certified judges will include Food Network celebrity chef, Anthony Sedlak and City of Langley Mayor Peter Fassbender. Competitors range from the star of the TV show BBQ Pitmasters, Harry Soo; Brian Misko from House of Q; and last year’s reigning champs Sugar’s BBQ from Portland, Oregon. Returning again this year is Langley blues rock band, OS5, and as always, the event will offer lots of free barbeque samples throughout the day as teams turn in their meats for judging. “As the popularity of southern style barbequing continues to grow in B.C., so does the popularity of our competition with teams throughout the Pacific Northwest and the general public in the Metro Vancouver area,” said Angie Quaale, organizer of BBQ On The Bypass. “We’ve seen a steady increase in attendance over the years and our fifth year is guaranteed to be our biggest event yet.” The BBQ On The Bypass is a competition based event where up to 30 teams will be competing for cash prizes in the categories of chicken, ribs, beef brisket, pork butt and a chef’s choice category of halibut or turkey. The team with the highest overall points will be crowned the BBQ on the Bypass Grand Champion and up to $5,000 in cash prizes. The BBQ on the Bypass is also the site of the B.C. BBQ Championship, the last in a series of competitions throughout B.C. where the team with the most points in all five provinicial competitions will be crowned the BC BBQ Champion, earning the David Valjasic Cup and $1,000 in cash. Approximately 30 teams are expected to compete at this year’s event including House of Q, Land Shark and Rub My Butt from Surrey; Mad Cow, The Porkaholics and Helluva Q from Langley; Whistler’s BBQ Bob & the Eh Team; Team 58 and The Wicked Q & the Meat Whispers from Vancouver Island; and Cock n Bull, Lynn Valley Butts, Smoke N Bones BBQ and Bad Ass BBQ from North Vancouver and many more. For the full list of team members visit the BBQ On The Bypass website. The BBQ On The Bypass is a not-for-profit event designed to introduce more people to “real BBQ” while providing competitive teams with an opportunity to hone their skills. As an internationally sanctioned cook off, the BBQ on the Bypass brings world class competitive teams from across Western Canada and the U.S. to Langley for Greater Vancouver’s biggest BBQ competition. Teams will start cooking at 7:00 pm on the evening of Saturday, September 18th and turn in their entries to be judged every hour on the hour after 11:00 am on Sunday, September 19th. The winners will be announced at approximately 5:00 p.m. BBQ On The Bypass sponsors include Global BC, STAR FM, the Langley Times, Tourism Langley, JD Farms Specialty Turkey, Coast Capital Savings, Cascades Casino, RedBarn Group, Nufloors Langley, Freybe Gourmet Foods Ltd., Impact Canopy, the UPS Store in Walnut Grove, Donald’s Fine Foods, Primo Grills, Gasland Equipment & Fireplaces and many more.
