Celebrate BC with White Spot

White Spot may come easily to mind if you are thinking burgers or breakfast, but the rest of the menu is also worth exploring.  This summer they’ve launched a Celebrate BC menu featuring dishes with local ingredients such as mushrooms, tomatoes, goat cheese, salmon, blueberries as well as their new 100% BC VQA wine list.

On until early September, you can try out their signature creations, like Truffled Mushroom Flatbread, Candied Salmon Cavatappi and Candied Salmon Spinach Salad and finish up with their Blueberry Pie.

 

100% BC VQA Wines

On Saturday night we stopped in to the Broadway White Spot and had a couple drinks along with some items from the summer menu.  Unfortunately we didn’t have room for the blueberry pie, which did look tempting, but we had an extra serving of the BC VQA wines, choosing the Mission Hill Chardonnay.

First up I had a strawberry vanilla mojito, very refreshing, not too sweet and made with BC Strawberries as a bonus.

The flatbread was topped with mushrooms, bacon, tomatoes, mozzarella and goat cheese and was chock full of flavour.  The crust was nice and crisp and the goat cheese and bacon plentiful.

Okanagan Summer Salad

The Okanagan Summer Salad included a flavourful chargrilled lemon-herb chicken breast, strawberries, blueberries, red onion, goat cheese, spinach and pecans.  Loved the chicken, but the spinach was a tad wilted.

Truffled Mushroom Bigger Burger

Of course we had to have a burger with that signature Triple O sauce.  The summer version has mushrooms, provolone cheese, lettuce and tomato and comes with coleslaw and fries.  We managed very little of this burger as it’s rather huge, but it’s a dressed up version of the regular mushroom burger they have and I’d order it again and omit sampling other dishes prior.

Other dished include a Candied Salmon Spinach Salad and a Candied Salmon Cavatappi with broccolini and peppers in lemon cream sauce atop cavapappi noodles.  Prices are all reasonable ranging from $9.99 fro the flatbread to $15.99 for the salmon cavatappi and blueberry pie can be added for only $3.00.  Alas we were far too full.  Bonus points also to Dan, our amazing server who was on the ball and happily and efficiently carried out his duties.
