Saturday August 30th & Sunday August 31st, 2014.

The 3rd annual Gastown BBQ & Chili Festival is just around the corner and we are well prepared for the biggest and best year yet! This year’s competitors include:

Gringo, Chill Winston, Railtown Café, Calabash, The Hastings Warehouse, TUC Craft Kitchen, Deacon’s Corner, The Charles Bar, The Irish Heather, Lamplighter, The Blarney Stone & Peckinpah,

These Gastown restaurants will be competing in the most canning BBQ & Chili Cook off any street festival has ever seen. There are several new developments to this 2 day event; this year we have expanded the festival grounds, created a larger licensed area, an outstanding menu suited for the foodie in you and a headlining performance by one of Vancouver’s biggest up and coming acts “Bend Sinister

The festivities will take place on the 200 block of Carrall Street, between Water St (Gassy Jack statue of Maple Tree Square) and Cordova Street (passing by the entrance to blood alley). The entire street will be closed to vehicular traffic. Large tents & BBQs will line the street which will be filled with picnic tables, a beer tent, restaurant patios, and a large musical stage hosting live music all weekend long.

The festival will be two fun filled afternoons of eating, dancing, wing eating competitions, pig roasts and celebrity appearances. Familiar faces you will see include:

Jason Garrison, Georgia Simmerling, Angus Reid, Joe Leary, Chef Quang Dang and Casey Jo-loos of 102.7 The Peak.

The Peak will also be joining us for a live to air broadcast covering the two days of the event.

This year’s festival will be in support of an amazing charity “Athletics for Kids.” Proceeds from the event will be donated directly to this charity. Representatives and volunteers from the charity will be helping to host the event and will have information on site to further your knowledge of the incredible work this charity brings to the lives of local children most in need.

“The Blarney Stone’s mission is to create a positive and sustainable influence in the lives of residents and businesses of the Gastown community, the Downtown Eastside and Vancouver as a whole. The Gastown BBQ and Chili Festival helps to achieve this by bringing the neighbourhood community together to host a city event through food, music, dance & traditional culture.”
