La Brasserie Celebrates Two Years and Oktoberfest

La Brasserie, a Davie Street favourite for Franco-German comfort food, will be celebrating its second anniversary in October – which very conveniently coincides with Oktoberfest!

Paying homage to their German roots, owners Michael and Stephen Wiese will be offering up three days of special Oktoberfest menu items, leading up to a Bavarian birthday blowout on Sunday October 3rd. From Thursday September 30th to Saturday October 2nd, (in addition to their regular menu) La Brasserie will be offering special Oktoberfest dishes that will include an appetizer of Obatzen, a traditional German spread made with cheese, shallots, paprika, chives and butter ($8) and a main course of Schweinshaxen, rotisserie pork hocks served with sauerkraut and boiled potatoes ($18). Other German favourites like La Brasserie’s near-famous Bratwurst ($15) and Roast Suckling Pig ($18) will also be available. In true Oktoberfest style, one-litre steins of Konig Ludwig will be on tap for $10 to wash it all down, along with $3 shots of Jagermeister.

The celebration will culminate with an Oktoberfest party on Sunday, October 3rd from 6:30 pm to midnight, The event is free and open to anyone and everyone who has helped make La Brasserie’s first two years a success (or anyone who just wants a great Oktoberfest party). Tables will be cleared, kegs will be tapped and lederhosen will be donned. All guests will receive a complimentary beer and as well as free Oktoberfest fare, like bratwurst and suckling pig sandwiches.

NOTE: For media, there will be a pre-party reception from 5 pm to 6:30 pm, please contact ryan@ryanbazeley.com to RSVP.

About La Brasserie

La Brasserie is a 35-seat Franco-German restaurant situated in the heart of Vancouver’s West End. Brothers Michael and Stephen Wiese have given Davie St. a cozy neighborhood gem that showcases the best of French and German comfort food. Classic dishes like Steak Onglet & Frites, Spicy Bratwurst & Sauerkraut, and Suckling Pig & Schupfnudel are served alongside a selection of over 30 hard-to-find European beers and a list of 12 wines, all available by the glass or the bottle. Dark wood tables and chairs, paired with deep red walls and leather banquets, with a stained-glass Tiffany lamp as a centerpiece, create a warm and welcoming atmosphere that blurs the line between fine dining room and neighborhood bistro.
