Okanagan’s Lang Winery gets Fresh Start with New Owner

We are pleased to announce a change of ownership at the Okanagan’s Lang Winery.  The property and winery have been purchased by Bravo Enterprises Ltd.  The business, which will continue to operate as Lang Winery, will doubtless benefit from new investment by an owner who is committed to helping the winery realize its potential.

The property that became Lang Winery was purchased by Guenther and Kristina Lang when they immigrated to Canada in 1980.  The Langs selected the site, in beautiful Naramata, because of its excellent soils and enviable microclimate.  Ten years later the winery opened its doors, becoming BC’s first cottage winery.  Its best-known wines are Riesling, Merlot, Gewurztraminer and Marechal Foch, all crafted with traditional Old World winemaking methods.

After the transfer of ownership, the winery will continue to produce the same varietals, and Guenther Lang will be leading a team of consultants, working closely with European-educated winemaker Laurent Lafuente who possesses a wealth of international experience:  he worked at wineries in France and Switzerland, before coming to Canada.  He chose to settle in BC because he recognized the potential the Okanagan holds to make world-class wines.

The change of ownership will bring an opportunity to renew the winery’s profile, including plans to redesign of the winery’s logo and packaging.  Mr. Wang, the owner of Bravo Enterprises, is excited to be joining the Okanagan’s business community, he states  “It is important to me that we will continue with the excellence that Mr. Guenther Lang has originally instilled in Lang Winery. We will strive to produce quality wine and become a deserving member of this wonderful wine community in the Okanagan.”  The winery plans to become a member of the Naramata Winery Association.  He looks forward to bringing together a team that can fulfill the tremendous promise the winery offers. <

The Lang Winery tasting room continues to be open.

Thank you for the excellent news! Having lived across the road from Lang Vineyards for 10 years and enjoyed many a superb Riesling with Sunday dinner, I’d have hated to see the winery founder on financial shoals. Guenther and Laurent are the very people to put things back on track! Hurrah for Bravo Enterprises!
