Rocky Mountain Flatbread, “Earth Bites” for Earth Week

The Rocky Mountain Flatbread Company are inviting their diners and the community to attend fun filled “Earth Bite” Workshops where you can  learn to grow and create mouth watering recipes with the wonder veggie Kale and create “Potato fusion kits” in celebration of Earth Week.

“Our team is teaching hundreds of students in local schools at this time of year how to grow and cook with spinach, snap peas, potatoes, kale, chard and more.  So it just made sense to extend this offering to our diners for Earth Day.”  Says Suzanne Fielden co-founder of Rocky Mountain Flatbread & Rocky Mountain Flatbread Education Society.

“Growing your own food is not only tasty but it is a great way to reduce your carbon footprint as well as increase the nutrients you get from your veggies.  Did you know our veggies usually travel over 2 500 miles before they get to our plate and on their travels they lose more than 50% of their vitamins and nutrients?”

The “Earth Bite” Workshop Line Up:

Their “Kale Bomb Workshop” will be led by “Kale Evangelist” & author of “The Book of Kale,” Sharon Hanna.  The workshop will be held April 18th, 5.30 – 6.30 pm  at Rocky Mountain Flatbread, Main Street.  Sharon will be showing people how to create “Kale Bombs” to grow wild kale; giving away kale transplants; and sharing top tips on how to grow & create mouth watering recipes with Kale.  Workshops are $10 a person & all proceeds will go to Rocky Mountain Flatbread Education Society teaching youth how to grow their own food and create seasonal snacks with food they grow.

Their “Potato Fusion Workshop” will be led by the folk at The World In A Garden.  The workshops will be held on Earth Day, April 22nd, 4.30 – 5.30 pm at Rocky Mountain Flatbread’s Kits and Main Street locations.  The team will help participants plant their own organic potatoes in burlap sacs with salad greens on the top.  They can then take their burlap sacs home and watch their potatoes and greens grow!  Perfect for patios & yards.  Workshops are $20 a person and all proceeds will go to The World In A Garden and Project Somos.  An eco-village for abandoned children in Guatemala.

During “Earth Bite Workshops” their restaurants will also be featuring local organic potatoes and kale on their daily flatbread pizza and pastas specials – demonstrating how easy and delicious it can be to incorporate local seasonal produce into everyday dishes.
