Saturna Island Family Estate Winery’s Winemaker, Homan Haftbaradaran, has made some welcome changes at Saturna Island winery; one being sourcing some of the grapes off-island to develop varieties not grown on the Saturna.
Haftbaradaran sourced some of the grapes for the 2011 Riesling wines from Okanagan Falls and from the Similkameen’s Cawston from sunrise vineyards owned by the Gidda Family. The wine is full of quince, grapefruit, lemon, lime and has some hints of guava. The acidity balances the residual sugar nicely. Very good with fatty cured meat such as salumi or some dried chorizo with manchego and quince paste.
