Joie Farm Riesling 2012

I love a good Riesling whether it by bone dry or on the sweeter side as long as the wine has a balanced acidity.  This number is what’s considered off-dry, or spatlese in Germany, containing 19 grams of residual sugar.  The wine is impressive; the vines used have an average age of 31 year, and most importantly it is well made, tasty and has balanced acidity.  On the nose you’ll find tropical fruit, mango, light peach and a bit of minerality.  On the palate there’s juicy guava, ripe peach, citrus and a finish of crisp acidity and a decent length.  I’m having this at the moment with a mustard, honey and thyme glazed pork roast, but this is a great wine for Thai or any Asian with a bit of spice, or as a brunch sipper with big slabs of bacon and maybe some fruit salad.



2009 Joie Noble Blend a Winner

JoieFarm is proud to announce that our 2009 A Noble Blend has been awarded Best White Wine in Show at the 29th Annual Riverside International Wine Competition in Temecula, California.  In addition JoieFarm has also been awarded the Terroir Trophy, given to “the winery that best displays regional character in its wines.”

Dan Berger, chairman of the Riverside competition, said the vote for best white wine was nearly unanimous amid the judges, something he has rarely seen.

“The judges were just blown away by this wine,” he said.

Forty-three judges from around the United States, mainly wine makers, wine journalists, and wine merchants, evaluated 1,923 wines over a three-day period, and many of the wines were evaluated using an experimental system that included regional identification.
