Parallel 49 Ugly Sweater Milk Stout

Ugly Sweater

Seasonal ale  is upon us and this little number has both an entertaining label and a rewarding interior. It’s dark brown in colour and has aromas of roast cocoa beans and wood burning fire.  Tastes like coffee, chocolate, hazelnut and caramel and is somewhat creamy.  Finishes smoothly and makes me crave a hearty beef stew perhaps in a mole sauce.

This could work – Beef Enchiladas in mole sauce

Parallel 49 Salty Scot

salty_scot_bottlesThis Salted Caramel Scotch Ale is not surprisingly full of caramel, dried fig and malt flavours and a definite sweetness and mild saltiness.  Lots of buttered caramel on the nose with coffee, vanilla and a marked toastiness.  A good sip for the holiday season and would work well with a nice creme caramel or pumpkin pie for the dessert course or some sharp cheeses post or pre dinner.
