Local cuisine, boutique wines, and cultural performances will all take centre stage at Sun Peaks Resort in the BC Interior during the 4th Annual Wine and Culture Festival, July 15-17, 2011.

The sister event to the world renowned Winter Festival of Wine, this boutique festival is a natural fusion of wine, local cuisine, arts and crafts, and eclectic musical performances.

Since its inauguration four years ago, the Wine and Culture Festival continues to grow and develop into a truly exceptional experience.

New for 2011! The Sun Peaks Home Tour: Architectural Spaces joins the lineup for the Wine and Culture Festival this summer. Guests will have the opportunity to tour four of the spectacular properties located around the area. From a charming alpine bungalow to a million dollar abode, all of the homes will be staged by professional interior designers from Kamloops. All of the homes feature differing architectural styles to appreciate, both inside and out.

The festival kicks off on the Friday evening with the Symphony of Flavours, an event that encapsulates the spirit of the festival. With members of the Kamloops Chamber Musicians setting the tone for the warm, summer evening, guests mix and mingle, sampling hand crafted tapas created with produce from area farms and tasting a selection of varietals from smaller vineyards from around the province.

Back by popular demand, the Art Walk returns with a stunning showcase of artisans from the region and phenomenal cuisine from local Sun Peaks chefs. The event has guests stroll throughout the charming alpine village of Sun Peaks, stopping at select restaurants to indulge in sumptuous tapas and wine, while meeting local artisans to view a demonstration of their work.

For those looking for spectacular BC cuisine, there are two Salmon barbeques taking place on the Saturday and Sunday of the festival. The Sunburst Salmon BBQ is a truly unique experience in the mountains, beginning with a chairlift ride up to the mid-mountain Sunburst Restaurant where you can relax on the patio or explore the area alpine hiking trails while your meal is prepared. Relax to the sounds of a music trio as you indulge on a mouth-watering meal of Citrus Grilled Wild Salmon before climbing back on the chairlift for the ride back to the village.

Quilting in the Mountains returns as part of the festival as well, with a Trunk Show and Dinner, a judged quilt show and a small Merchant’s Mall. Those looking to expand their skills can also sign up for one of three 2-day classes.

The sophistication of the festival melds perfectly with the natural mountain playground that is Sun Peaks Resort, allowing guests to custom design their perfect blend. Hike in the alpine through a field of vibrant wildflowers as the peaks are filled with classical notes from members of the Kamloops Symphony Chamber Musicians. Hammer the single track in the Sun Peaks Bike Park, and then cruise into the village for the Art Walk with tapas, wine samples and art displays. After a successful round on the 18-hole Graham Cooke-designed golf course, sample fresh, BC cuisine or explore the intricate designs at the Quilt Show.

It’s all happening July 15-17 at the 4th Annual Wine and Culture Festival at Sun Peaks Resort. For a full event schedule, ticket information or to book accommodation, please call 1-800-807-3257 or email info@sunpeaksresort.com.
