What’s Good This Week April 26 Edition – Vancouver Events

Vancouver Events We Recommend This Week

Currently nestled in the Naramata Bench, we are enjoying our stay at Quidni Estate Winery and are very reluctant to leave! We’ve had some great food here and tasted some amazing wine and beer, so stay tuned for a Penticton/Naramata travel edition. We’ll be up in Kelowna for the next little while arranging our wedding (3 more sleeps), but if we were in Vancouver, there’d be a few things we’d check out.

Vancouver TheatreSports™ League’s (VTSL) presents Western World

We’ve seen this and it’s absolutely hilarious! Head to the Improv Centre on Granville Island and check out Western World, inspired by the HBO series Westworld.

Each night features a totally new ‘episode’ under the watchful eye and guiding mind of Robert (sometimes Roberta) Ford. Guests begin their Western World adventure with an orientation. “Who are these hosts? Where do they come from? What roles do they play? Where is Western World?” are typical of the many questions that only VTSL’s esteemed Guests can answer. Throughout the first half, Guests help craft the story-line that becomes the basis for the second half of the show. In this artificial world of improvised comedy anything can, and will, happen.

Join VTSL for an evening of ‘laughs without limits’ Thursday through Saturday evenings at 7:30 pm from April 6 through May 13 at VTSL’s home, The Improv Centre on Granville Island. Tickets on sale now.

What’s Good March 14 – What to do In Vancouver This Week

Vancouver Events This Week

Hard to believe we are half into March! C’mon cherry blosoms! But I think I boringly say it’s always hard to believe we are at “some particular date”, as time tends to fly by for me every day. I should try a better intro. However, back to the weather, it’s a little warmer out this week, although by the weekend it looks like temperature may cool. At least there’s not constant rain in the city so you can get out for a walk or two.  I’m doing a long run Sunday morning so say a little prayer! Here’s some suggestions to keep you occupied this week while we’re waiting for those blossoms!

tripimproviserTravel to The Improv Centre this summer for trippy comedy, July 3 – August 30

Vancouver TheatreSports™ League (VTSL) kicks-off its new summer show, TripImproviser, on Thursday, July 3. Inspired by suggestions from the audience and TripAdvisor reviews, the new show will parody travel experiences. From city to jungle, bungee jumping to bird watching, the possibilities are endless because it’s completely improvised and totally unpredictable.

VTSL understands the value of traveler reviews, as TripAdvisor users frequently recommend The Improv Centre as a great spot to catch some of the best improv comedy in the city. In fact, VTSL has received TripAdvisor’s Certificate of Excellence – which honours hospitality businesses that consistently achieve outstanding traveler reviews on TripAdvisor – for the past three consecutive years. With TripImproviser, VTSL’s talented performers will find the funny in travel experiences, be it audience suggestions or online reviews.

Each night, a host will interview audience members to ask where they’re from or to share memorable travel experiences. Or, the host may search TripAdvisor for inspiration. VTSL’s Mainstage Ensemble will then re-enact the action onstage through scenes, songs and montages. From around the corner to around the world, with TripImproviser, there’s no telling where the laughter will lead this summer.
