Now available in British Columbia and Alberta

Last spring, Australia’s Bill Hardy, of the renowned Hardys Wines family, visited cities across Canada to launch the innovative Hardys ‘Shuttle’. While he was in key cities across the country, he provided a sneak preview of Hardys Wines’ latest offering: The Chronicles. Building on the rich heritage of Hardys, each ‘Chronicles’ wine is a blend of a classic varietal along with a new or emerging varietal creating a unique wine style. Each wine under the Chronicles label is named for a particular event in Thomas Hardy’s history with a brief explanation provided on the wine label.

We are pleased to announce that the Hardys Chronicles 2008 Chardonnay Pinot Gris and the 2007 Hardys Chronicles Shiraz Sangiovese are now available in British Columbia and Alberta.

Clean, traditional and with a touch of daring, each wine chronicles a Thomas Hardy story:

  • The Gamble Chardonnay Pinot Gris

A gamble for some was to become one man’s destiny. With little winemaking experience but barrel-loads of courage, Thomas Hardy packed his kit and sought a future in the New World. Through passion, determination, generosity and a touch of daring, that gamble led to the creation of one of Australia’s most celebrated wine companies.

  • Butcher’s Gold Shiraz Sangiovese

Legend has it Thomas Hardy made his money in the Victorian goldfields – even though he never owned a miner’s license. Instead, he drove cattle all the way from South Australia and, ingeniously, opened a goldfields butcher’s shop, making a handsome profit feeding the many hungry miners.

Thomas Hardy was a self-made man of immense character. He had a staggering supply of energy, a peculiar knack of being in the right place at the right time, an outstanding ability to excel at anything, a mighty civic pride and a touch of daring.

A recent Power 100 study conducted in the UK named Hardys the “Most Loved Australian Brand in the World”; over 2 million glasses of Hardys wines are consumed in over 60 countries every single day.

The Chronicles celebrate a life rich with stories. We invite you to sample Australian winemaking history, courtesy of Hardys Chronicles.

About Hardys:

In 1850, at the age of 20, Thomas Hardy set sail from the UK for a life of adventure in the new colony of South Australia. Hardy is accredited with establishing the now famous South Australian wine industry. Wines that still bear his name are lovingly consumed throughout the world. Fast forward to today: six generations and nearly 3,000 national and international medals and trophies later, Hardys continues Thomas Hardy’s long term vision to create wines that would be prized around the world. This longevity and success is tribute to his original vision for Hardys. The Hardys range of wines includes the acclaimed, coveted and collected Thomas Hardy Cabernet. Other wines include Eileen Hardy Shiraz and Chardonnay, new Hardys Reserve Bin (HRB) cross regional blends, the South Australian regional range of Oomoo wines, new Chronicles blends, Nottage Hill and Stamp Series.
