real hollandaise\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I had a dentist appointment this morning so I felt that I had to give myself something to look forward to afterwards as a reward for the torture I was\u00a0about to endure. \u00a0As it turned out, I actually had a little bit of fun at the dentist, and left with a goody bag of dental products vowing to floss daily. \u00a0However, I did not want to renege on myself, so I continued on the path to my reward, which was, of course food. \u00a0Having a craving for something sandwich-like I choose to check out <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yolks.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">Yolk&#8217;s<\/a>, a food truck based at Dunsmuir and Beatty.<\/p>\n<p>Yolk&#8217;s is a division of Wet Coast Foods, a food consulting company run by Steven Ewing and Mario Margaritis, two chefs who take breakfast seriously. \u00a0The menu includes items such as breakfast sandwiches including the\u00a0<strong>Hand Carved Honey Ham<\/strong>, poached free-range egg, Yolk\u2019s made Dijon, fresh spinach with real hollandaise or aged white cheddar or the\u00a0<strong>Tempura-Panko Avocado<\/strong>, poached free-range egg, fresh cilantro &amp; lime hollandaise, and <strong>Croque Madame &#8220;Muffin&#8221; <\/strong>with brioche bread, carved ham, b\u00e9chamel sauce,\u00a0Gruyere, poached free-range yolk and <strong>Hash Brown Skewers<\/strong><strong>\u00a0with <\/strong>organic local potatoes with lemon, truffle oil &amp; sea salt.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8333\/8120302054_beb5808ce2.jpg?resize=500%2C313\" alt=\"thermomix\" width=\"500\" height=\"313\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The team has a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thermomixcanada.ca\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\">Therm<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.thermomixcanada.ca\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\">omix,<\/a>\u00a0a kitchen appliance that I covet, and one that ensures the silkiest of hollandaise sauces ever. \u00a0Also great for\u00a0risotto, sabayon, porridge, ice cream&#8230;.but I digress.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8052\/8120286993_a8c9c1c21f.jpg?resize=500%2C333\" alt=\"Hand Carved Honey Ham, poached free-range egg, Yolk\u2019s made Dijon, fresh spinach with real hollandaise\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I decided that I would go for the Honey-Carved Ham sandwich, a choice I would not regret. \u00a0The sandwich consists of smokey ham, a rich and satisfying hollandaise, a perfect poached egg and fresh spinach, all shoved between a porous bun that became the vehicle for absorbing the saucy goodness of the hollandaise and egg yolk. \u00a0A sprinkling of green onion and a smack of pepper elevated the dish.<\/p>\n<p>As I bit into the sandwich the yolk oozed out and required me to dip the next bite into the bright orange mess. \u00a0Am I complaining here? \u00a0No. But just be prepared for this pleasure and grab an extra wad of napkins and a wipe to ensure you don&#8217;t go back to the office, with egg on your face. \u00a0(sorry but I had to).<\/p>\n<p>The daily specials btw were:<\/p>\n<p>Rib eye steak &amp; eggs with beer battered onion rings and Stilton on brioche<br \/>\nVegetarian?: Grilled portobello mushroom with free range egg, spinach and truffle oil<br \/>\nHot apple cider with cinnamon, lemon &amp; cayenne<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s some other shots from their
