In 2012, food journalist Sarah Musgrave once again ate her way across Canada on a month-long journey, dining anonymously wherever she landed. More than 250 dishes later, it was\u00a0clear: the year belonged to Toronto, which nabbed an unprecedented 6 of the 10 spots on the list. \u201cWith a flurry of lease signings and\u00a0exhaust-fan installations, the city\u2019s dining scene is on fire,\u201d she writes in enRoute\u2019s November issue. 2. Model Milk (Calgary). \u201cJustin Leboe is taking his cooking down home without dumbing it down\u2026 perfectly tender southern-fried\u00a0rabbit, the golden crust stung by hot pepper vinegar, sits on ethereally creamy grits.\u201d<\/p>\n

3. Ursa (Toronto). \u201c\u2026rootsy and possibly radical, but with more than a touch of glam\u2026 A cuisine that is health-oriented and highly\u00a0original, but not preachy. We\u2019ll drink to that.\u201d<\/p>\n

4. Acadia (Toronto). \u201cEncompassing Lowcountry and Acadian cuisines… the menu reinterprets with technical aplomb the messy\u00a0jumble of rustic French and southern coastal influences.\u201d<\/p>\n
