\"crab\"<\/a>(Nanoose Bay, BC)<\/strong> \u2013 On Saturday July 20, 2013 from 11 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Nanoose Bay\u2019s Northwest Bay Ranch<\/a>, home to Seafood4Life<\/a>, will host a family-friendly crab feast. \u00a0Tickets are $30.00 inclusive per person and include a plate of Dungeness crab straight from the ocean with corn on the cob, coleslaw and bread roll accompanied with live music from The Centaurs<\/a>.\u00a0 Free hot-dogs, lemonade and hayrides are available for children under 12 provided they are accompanied with an adult ticket-holder.\u00a0 Ticket-holders, 19 years and older can also enjoy the on-site beer and wine garden where refreshments from Longwood Brewery<\/a> and Backyard Vineyards<\/a> are available for purchase. \u00a0Partial proceeds of the event will go to\u00a0restore and maintain Moorcroft Regional Park<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Tickets for the event are $30 and available at the ranch and by phone at (250) 468 7144<\/p>\n

About Northwest Bay Ranch<\/b><\/p>\n

Northwest Bay Ranch<\/a> a family run ranch owned by the Mauriks family and located on the Nanoose peninsula on the east coast of Vancouver Island. The Ranch lies within a beautiful valley with dogwoods, oaks, arbutus, Douglas fir and big leaf maple trees. The property is 145 acres which is made up of 55 acres of woodlands and 90 acres of pasture and hay fields. The farm has a small flock of Dorper sheep, a few Hereford cattle and free range chickens for meat and eggs. Northwest Bay Ranch also boards horses in addition to their own.<\/p>\n

They have been committed to the sustainable harvesting of wild seafood for 48 years and to provide the highest quality product by using the best fishing practices available. Seafood4life sells both wholesale and retail from Northwest Bay Ranch Nanoose Bay, BC. They currently sustainably harvest Dungeness crab by trap, toll caught Albacore tuna, troll caught Pacific salmon and BC spot prawns by trap.\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

About Moorecroft Regional Park<\/b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n

Moorecroft Regional Park is owned by the Regional District of Nanaimo and managed under a Conservation Covenant held by the Nature Conservancy of Canada.\u00a0 The 34 hectare Moorecroft site includes shoreline and spectacular views across the Georgia Strait. There are approximately 32 hectares of natural forest featuring tree species such as Western Red Cedar, Douglas Fir, Arbutus, Bigleaf Maple, Red Alder and Garry Oak. Two intermittent creeks run through the property, and two eagle nesting sites have been identified. The property also contains a wetland area known as Skipsey Lake, an open field and a network of walking trails.<\/p>\n
