\"Dinner<\/a>I used to think of Burgoo as a place to head to in the winter for stews and heavier dishes. They even bill themselves as a soup and stewhouse, but they are in fact much more than just that. \u00a0On Fourth Avenue in Kitsilano, they have a lovely patio and there’s a new seasonal menu showcasing summer items such as ceviche and poke as well as salads and lighter soups.<\/p>\n

The wine and beer list is locally focused and service is prompt and friendly.<\/p>\n

We stopped in for a meal and gobbled up the fresh Summer Greens salad with bacon, apple, almonds, cucumber, local goat cheese and a light vinaigrette.<\/p>\n

The Ahi Tuna Poke had some good flavours but was a bit heavy on the dressing and I’d like to see something crisper with the dish than pita to scoop it up. \u00a0Maybe deep fried wontons?<\/p>\n

Mac and Cheese was rich and full of flavour and the jambalaya was another hit. \u00a0Sadly no room for dessert.<\/p>\n

For the Khatshalano Art and Music Festival <\/a>on July 13, 2013 Burgoo will be doing strawberry lemonade and pulled pork sliders curbside and have an extended patio so we can enjoy the (cross fingers) sun.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
