an excellent restaurant inside a Victoria suburb&#8217;s bowling alley I was less than convinced. \u00a0Upon further research I discovered that this spot, <a href=\"http:\/\/gallopinggoosegrille.com\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>The Galloping Goose<\/strong> <\/a>at Langford Lanes is actually staffed by some pretty high-calibre talent who had previously been at Oru, a restaurant in the Fairmont Pacific in Vancouver &#8211;\u00a0Chad Wilson, Yvonne Lee and Phil Kwong. \u00a0Things were looking a little different from my initial impression.<\/p>\n<p>The restaurant serves brunch items such as the\u00a0Galloping Goose Breakfast Bunwich served in a\u00a0brioche bun, with fried egg, bacon and cheese or the\u00a0French Toast which is made with\u00a0coconut milk, caramelized apples and served with\u00a0and 2 strips of bacon.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"IMG_20130221_164450\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/37519564@N03\/9657286451\/\" rel=\"\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"IMG_20130221_164450\" alt=\"IMG_20130221_164450\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm6.staticflickr.com\/5515\/9657286451_b7550f4dde.jpg?resize=500%2C500\" width=\"500\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lunch and dinner starters include the deconstructed and delightful waldorf salad, smoked fish and dill chowder which rates at the top of any recent I&#8217;ve tried and buttermilk and herb marinated chicken wings.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"IMG_1977\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/37519564@N03\/9659655128\/\" rel=\"\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a title=\"IMG_1975\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/37519564@N03\/9659642444\/\" rel=\"\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Mains include their burger, fish and chips and an amazing house-smoked\u00a0\u00a0Pulled Pork &amp; Mushroom Ragu with\u00a0house-made tagliatelle, smoked pulled pork, mushroom, and garlic toast and an excellent Pan Seared Salmon with a lemon tarragon butter sauce atop mashed potatoes.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"IMG_1978\" href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/37519564@N03\/9656436971\/\" rel=\"\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" title=\"IMG_1978\" alt=\"IMG_1978\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7409\/9656436971_4c0bbbc7b5.jpg?resize=500%2C333\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<div>Desserts are baked on site and the lemon tart is not to be missed. \u00a0There&#8217;s also a bowling alley menu which includes more traditional pub fare such as pizzas, nachos and burgers and also has deep-fried Oreos. \u00a0A solid choice for
