From\u00a0<b>December 1-14\u00a0<\/b><a href=\"http:\/\/mamietaylors.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">Mamie Taylor\u2019s <\/a>\u00a0restaurant has teamed up with not-for-profit <a href=\"http:\/\/wearenotsofast.org\/\">Not So Fast<\/a>\u00a0and will serve an stellar \u00a0Pierogi dish with profits benefiting the &#8220;Inside The Box\u201d Friday food program at the <a href=\"http:\/\/vancouver.ca\/parks-recreation-culture\/strathcona-community-centre.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Strathcona Community Centre<\/a>.<a href=\"http:\/\/mamietaylors.ca\/\"><br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\">Chef Tobias Grignon was challenged to create a signature dish using frugal and healthy ingredients from a very short list of affordable dried goods, high-protein nuts and legumes, and seasonal vegetables &#8211; The Sunchoke and Goat Cheese Pierogies served on Braised Lentils with Roasted Kale and Walnuts ($18) dish were born.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;Inside The Box&#8221; program provides essentials such as rice, beans or lentils and a recipe that features low-cost, seasonal produce such as kale and root vegetables.<\/p>\n<p>Since the program began last month, more than 150 Downtown Eastside families have been helped with Not So Fast\u2019s &#8220;Think Inside The Box&#8221; meal starters.<\/p>\n<p><b>About Not So Fast<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Not so fast is is a charity that promotes healthy, local, affordable food choices to families living on Vancouver\u2019s Downtown Eastside with innovative food programs and youth cooking classes. <a href=\"http:\/\/wearenotsofast.org\/\">www.wearenotsofast.org<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A<b>bout Mamie Taylor\u2019s\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>At the vanguard of Chinatown\u2019s emerging culinary scene, Mamie Taylor\u2019s is a casual space featuring comfort food with a twist and a killer cocktail list.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What better excuse to get out and try a new restaurant if you haven&#8217;t stopped by this place already than this tasty fundraising venture.
