Judges will feast on British Columbia\u2019s Barkley Sound oysters farmed just off the west coast of Vancouver Island as they sip and sample beers from around the country to determine which brew is this oysters best friend.<\/p>\n<p>The inaugural Canadian Craft Beer &amp; Oyster pairing Competition will be held on April 25<sup>th<\/sup>, 2014 during the third annual Osoyoos Oyster Festival. The competition is sponsored by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spiritridge.ca\/\">Spirit Ridge Vineyard Resort and Spa<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/flavoursworld.ca\/\">Flavours World<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/camravancouver.ca\/\">CAMRA Vancouver,<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/bccraftbeer.com\/\">BC Craft Brewers Guild<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.codfathers.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\">Codfathers Seafood Market<\/a> and will be divided into eleven categories. Canadian Craft Breweries are encouraged to submit theirIPA, Stout, Porter, Lager, Ale, Wheat Beer, Pilsner, Bitter, Cider, Mead, and any other brewing style under the category of Wild Card.\u00a0 A winner will be chosen in each category and a best overall. Beers (Cider\/Mead) \u00a0must be craft brews made in Canada.<\/p>\n<p><b>Deadline to enter submissions is April 17<sup>th<\/sup>, 2014. Entry forms and entry rules can be downloaded\u00a0at: \u00a0<\/b><b><a href=\"http:\/\/www.oooysterfestival.com\/\">www.oooysterfestival.com<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Judgesfor the second annual Canadian Oyster Wine Competition include <b>Adam Chatbur<\/b><b>n,<\/b> president of CAMRA Vancouver, <b>Dan Clapson<\/b> a Calgary based food writer and\u00a0contributor to Food Network Canada, <i>Avenue<\/i>\u00a0and WestJet\u2019s\u00a0<i>up!<\/i>\u00a0<i>magazine<\/i>, <b>Martin Lewis<\/b> who is on the board of directors for the Okanagan Wine Society and is currently working towards the Cicerone beer certification, and culinary power couple Chef<b> Jonathan Chovancek<\/b> and Bartender\/Sommelier <b>Lauren Mote<\/b> owners of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bitteredsling.com\/\">Bittered Sling Extracts.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Osoyoos Oyster Festival<\/strong>\u00a0was created to showcase the sustainable oysters produced by the farmers and guilds of the nearby West Coast together with the award-winning wines of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.oliverosoyoos.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Oliver Osoyoos Winery Association<\/a>.
