Oyster shuckers, bartenders and mixologists from\u00a0around the globe will descend upon Whistler June 29 to compete \u00a0in the\u00a04th<\/sup> Annual Bearfoot Bistro World Oyster Invitational & Bloody Caesar Battle<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The $5,000 prize\u2014courtesy of Sawmill Bay Shellfish Company<\/strong>, and the largest purse for any oyster-shucking contest\u2014will be awarded to the competitor who produces the best 30 shucked oysters against the clock. Scores will be awarded based on a combination of shucking time and appearance of the finished oysters, with marks deducted for infractions, including shell shards, grit, broken shell cups or cut oyster meat.<\/p>\n

The Bearfoot Bistro Bloody Caesar Battle<\/strong>, presented by Ketel One Vodka<\/strong>, also boasts a $5,000 cash prize, awarded to the bartender who creates the best Caesar on the day, based on taste, presentation and originality.
\nThe popularity of the event has grown year-on-year, with demand exceeding the restaurant\u2019s capacity. In order to accommodate more guests, this year\u2019s event will be held just across the street from the Bearfoot Bistro, on the grounds of the Whistler Golf Club Practice Range.<\/p>\n

All-inclusive tickets for the garden party of the season are $75. Ticket holders will enjoy wine, oysters, a BBQ and entertainment, as well as witnessing the oyster contest\u2014 emceed by Rick Cluff, host of CBC\u2019s Early Edition\u00ad\u2014and the chance to try each Caesar entered into the bloodiest battle of the year.\u00a0http:\/\/bearfootbistro.com\/?event=bearfoot-bistro-world-oyster-invitational<\/p>\n
