We&#8217;ve been twice and hope to get back there again this year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #281a11;\">The Festival will bring together growers, food providers and chefs from Salt Spring Island and partner them with local craft brewers and vintners representing the wine growing regions of British Columbia.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"color: #281a11;\">FOOD, WINE, CRAFT BEER AND PEOPLE<\/h2>\n<p style=\"color: #281a11;\"><strong>Salt Spring Island is known as the organic capital of Canada.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #281a11;\">It\u2019s small\u00a0<strong>family farms<\/strong>,<strong>\u00a0artisan food<\/strong>\u00a0providers and\u00a0<strong>fishing community<\/strong>\u00a0provide \u00a0a bountiful harvest of fresh,\u00a0<strong>delicious fruits and vegetables<\/strong>,<strong>\u00a0breads and cheeses<\/strong>,<strong>\u00a0eggs from free range chickens<\/strong>, famous\u00a0<strong>Salt Spring lamb<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>farm raised, heritage breeds of pork and chickens<\/strong>, daily catches of\u00a0<strong>crab, mussels and oysters<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 and in September,\u00a0<strong>local salmon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #281a11;\">Surrounding Salt Spring are the nearby southern Gulf Islands, the verdant Cowichan Valley, the rich plains of the Saanich Peninsula and the other southern Gulf Islands all of which share a similar climate, soils and love of the land and sea.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #281a11;\">In addition to the wonderful local food, the area is home to the outstanding wines of the\u00a0<strong>\u2018Wine Islands<\/strong>\u2019 region. These wines will be featured together with wines representing all of the wine regions of British Columbia and some of the finest Vancouver Island Craft Beer.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"color: #281a11;\">THE EVENTS<\/h2>\n<ul id=\"checklist-1\" class=\"list-icon circle-no list-icon-ok\" style=\"color: #281a11;\">\n<li>On Friday evening, local restaurants and farms will be hosting\u00a0<strong>Harvest Dinners<\/strong>\u00a0where the talent of chefs will combine with locally produced ingredients in seasonally inspired menus. Wine and beer selections will be paired with specific courses, either in set menus or as you choose.<\/li>\n<li>Your culinary adventure continues on Saturday starting at 9 am with the\u00a0<strong>Famous Salt Spring Saturday Market<\/strong>, where everything is grown, harvested, created and made on Salt Spring Island. With the bounty of the Fall Harvest upon us, the Market with be brimming with fresh, local fruit, vegetables and grains grown in our unique micro-climate.<\/li>\n<li>In Ganges on Saturday afternoon beginning at 1 pm, the\u00a0<strong>Salt Spring Island Farmers Institute<\/strong>\u00a0will be transformed into a fabulous\u00a0<strong>Grazing Experience<\/strong>\u00a0as visitors sip fine wines and craft beer from BC and savour samples of delicious local foods, prepared by island chefs.\u00a0 Attendees will see the fresh produce, be able to talk to the grower, ask the chef how they prepared the ingredients and discuss \u00a0how the wine or beer complement the resulting dish.\u00a0 The pairings are carefully selected to enhance the experience that is unique to our grazing event. Additional products will be available for purchase for those wishing to take some of the taste memories home.<\/li>\n<li>Saturday evening various locations will be hosting\u00a0<strong>live music<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>great food<\/strong>\u00a0to keep you entertained \u2013 check our<a style=\"color: #722d82;\" href=\"http:\/\/sipandsavoursaltspring.com\/meetings-events\/\"><strong>EVENT CALENDAR<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0for details!<\/li>\n<li>New for 2014 is the\u00a0<strong>Sparkling Wine Brunch<\/strong>\u00a0at the Harbour House Hotel and Restaurant. Many BC sparkling wines will be available to taste, then choose a glass of your favourite to enjoy with sumptuous brunch, prepared with the farm\u2019s fresh, organic eggs and produce.<\/li>\n<li>As a bonus to your Sip &amp; Savour Salt Spring weekend, stay and enjoy varied events during<strong>\u00a0National Organic Week<\/strong>, culminating with the 16th Annual\u00a0<strong>Salt Spring Apple Festival<\/strong>\u00a0taking place on Sunday, September 28th.
