The Festival will bring together growers, food providers and chefs from Salt Spring Island and partner them with local craft brewers and vintners representing the wine growing regions of British Columbia.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Menus are planned, reservations are being made, tickets are selling! The\u00a0Sip & Savour Salt Spring, Harvest Food and Drink Festival, September 19. 20 and 21st, 2014\u00a0<\/strong>is less than one month away!<\/p>\n

This year’s\u00a0three day event<\/strong>\u00a0offers so many delectable options, choosing where to dine for the\u00a0Friday Night Harvest Dinner\u00a0<\/strong>is going to be one tough decision.<\/p>\n

For a multi-course, wine paired dinner, you can choose from the sublime to the extraordinary. From the upscale surroundings of\u00a0Hastings House Country House Hotel<\/strong>\u00a0with Dungeness crab and herb crusted Salt Spring Island Lamb paired with\u00a0Burrowing Owl<\/strong>\u00a0Estate<\/strong>\u00a0Vineyards<\/strong>\u00a0wines, ( 5 courses, 5 wines, $100) to the soul-stirring beauty of\u00a0Stowel Lake Farm<\/strong>\u00a0and chef Haidee Hart’s <\/strong>super local, ultra fresh Brandywine tomatoes, Sockeye Salmon, blackberries and cheese from the “neighbours”, paired with\u00a0Road 13<\/strong>\u00a0wines (5 courses, 4 wines, $85), how can one decide? Accommodations are available at both locations, so you can enjoy dinner and not driving.<\/p>\n

But wait, there’s more…\u00a0Hoyne Brewery<\/strong>, on tap, with a special harvest menu at\u00a0Moby’s Pub<\/strong>, a tasting menu of local ingredients at\u00a0Auntie Pesto’s Cafe<\/strong>, paired with\u00a0La Stella wines<\/strong>\u00a0and more Salt Spring Island lamb, this time served with organic veggies and fruit from their own backyard, at the\u00a0Harbour House Hotel and Organic Farm and Restaurant<\/strong>, paired with\u00a0Summerhill Organic Wines<\/strong>….or if you are south of town,\u00a0Rock Salt Restaurant<\/strong>\u00a0is offering their\u00a0Friday Night Fresh Sheet<\/strong>, featuring the best fresh, local, seasonal cuisine in the\u00a0Village at Fulford Harbour.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Then there is Saturday! First a dizzying array of harvest produce and local arts and crafts at the\u00a0Saturday Market<\/strong>\u00a0in Ganges, then up Rainbow Road to the\u00a0Farmer’s Institute\u00a0<\/strong>for\u00a0<\/strong>the\u00a0Grazing Experience from 1:00-4:00 pm.<\/strong>\u00a0Over 40 of BC’s best wine, cider and beer to sip, paired with locally grown and produced tasty morsels to savour, live music and a host of island characters to keep you entertained all afternoon. Farm raised, spit roasted lamb and pork, island cheeses, flavourful relishes, crunchy salads, house-made salumi and charcuterie, comforting soups, spicy curries, raw chocolate, juicy apples, tomatoes so sweet and ripe, they will make you weep! Pick up a little extra to take home with you (that is, if they survive the snacking in the bus, car or ferry ride home!) Salt Spring Island is known as the organic capital of Canada.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s small\u00a0family farms<\/strong>,\u00a0artisan food<\/strong>\u00a0providers and\u00a0fishing community<\/strong>\u00a0provide \u00a0a bountiful harvest of fresh,\u00a0delicious fruits and vegetables<\/strong>,\u00a0breads and cheeses<\/strong>,\u00a0eggs from free range chickens<\/strong>, famous\u00a0Salt Spring lamb<\/strong>,\u00a0farm raised, heritage breeds of pork and chickens<\/strong>, daily catches of\u00a0crab, mussels and oysters<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 and in September,\u00a0local salmon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
