A full night of workshops were held\u00a0to help solve food security issues in the\u00a0community. While the night is over there is still time to <a href=\"http:\/\/abetterlifefoundation.ca\/fundraiser\/\" target=\"_blank\">donate and more information here<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p><strong>YOUR DONATIONS BENEFIT:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Currently training 360 women a year on food security and provision. Expanding to 720 with your help.<br \/>\nProviding a sandwich bar for Beauty Night Society&#8217;s DTES participants &#8211;\u00a0sandwiches for Beauty Night Society&#8217;s Life Makeover Program at DEWC.<br \/>\nSupplement meals and fund food programing for East Vancouver youth in partnership with Growing Chefs, Breakfast Clubs of Canada and others.<br \/>\nAddition of meal program to Rainer Women&#8217;s Hotel, 40 meals a day for the entire year.<br \/>\nSupplementing current meal program of 717 meals a day to 8 Single Room Occupancy Hotels in the DTES.<br \/>\n200 breakfasts a week to kids and their families at Strathcona Elementary School.<br \/>\nProvide emergency food for organisations working in the DTES.<br \/>\nAdding jobs and training to current programs for those who face traditional \u201cbarriers\u201d to employment.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kudos to all that participated in the 24-hour famine to promote awareness and raise funds for food security in the DTES.
