Since then, RibFest has been a battlefield where the city\u2019s most ambitious amateur BBQ masters from restaurants across the city meet over the flames of competition.<\/p>\n<p>On Canada Day \u2014 Wednesday, July 1<sup>st<\/sup> \u2014<strong>Mamie Talyor\u2019s<\/strong> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mamietaylors.ca\">www.mamietaylors.ca<\/a>) and <strong>Re-Up BBQ<\/strong> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.reupbbq.com\">www.reupbbq.com<\/a>) are joining forces to bring RibFest out of the backyard and into the street \u2014 opening the grill games to the public for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>Starting at 4pm, competitors will fire up their grills in front of Mamie Taylor\u2019s restaurant in Chinatown (251 E. Georgia St.) to win bragging rights and the coveted DIY RibFest trophy.<\/p>\n<p>At 7 pm, a judging panel of three experts (<em>Scout Magazine<\/em> founder Andrew Morrison, Mamie Taylor\u2019s Chef Tobias Grignon and RibFest founder Jeff Curry) will choose the winner. For $5, a limited number of guests can sample the competition ribs and vote for their favourite on a first-come-first-serve basis. (Judging spots are very limited.)<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the afternoon and late into the evening, Mamie Taylor\u2019s will be serving $12 rib plates, smoked by Re-Up and featuring Chef Tobias Grignon\u2019s signature BBQ sauce, alongside coleslaw and macaroni salad.
