Canadian Oats Form the Base of the Newest Milk on the Market \u2013 SoFresh Oat<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Around our house there\u2019s bound to be a few types of milk in our cupboards and fridge. While I have no issue with dairy, it bothers Michael and lots of our guests. There\u2019s also the fact that I forget to buy dairy milk, so if there is a product I can keep in the cupboard for those times, it\u2019s super convenient, plus I often just feel like something a little different. SoFresh Oat is the first refrigerated oak milk in Canada and is made with whole grain gluten free oats and is dairy, nut and gluten free, and vegan. It\u2019s also completely allergen free, meaning kids can take the milk and products made with the milk to nut-free schools.<\/p>\n

\"sofresh<\/a><\/p>\n

It comes in unsweetened original and unsweetened vanilla, and I\u2019ve used both milks for different recipes and as an addition to coffee. Apparently oat milk is a popular product in Sweden and South America, but I\u2019d never heard of it. We found it\u2019s creamier and smoother than some other milks we\u2019ve tried, and liked the vanilla in my coffee and smoothies, while the regular worked better in my oatmeal so I could add additional flavours such as cinnamon, apple and pumpkin. Each cup of milk is made from 1\/3 cup of Canadian oats and is low in fat and sugar. There\u2019s 4 grams of protein, 2 grams of fibre and 7 essential nutrients including calcium and vitamin D.<\/p>\n

One of my favourite registered dieticians, Desiree Nielsen was quoted as saying \u201cOats are among the healthiest grains on earth and have many health benefits, including weight loss, lower blood sugar and cholesterol levels, and a reduced risk of heart disease. They are a great source of protein, fiber, minerals and key vitamins, boost your energy levels and help you lead a healthy lifestyle.\u201d<\/p>\n

Apple Pie Chia Pudding<\/strong>
\nServes One
\nVegan, Vegetarian, Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Nut Free<\/p>\n

3 tbsp chia seeds
\n2\/3 cup SoFresh Oat Beverage, regular or vanilla
\n1\/3 cup plain unsweetened apple sauce
\n\u00bd tsp cinnamon
\n1\/8 tsp nutmeg
\n1\/8 tsp cardamom
\n1\/8 tsp allspice
\n\u00bd tsp vanilla
\ntiny pinch of salt
\n1-2 tsp maple syrup, to your taste
\n\u00bd apple, diced<\/p>\n

In a mason jar or resealable container, whisk together all the ingredients, except for the chopped apple, vigorously for about a minute.<\/p>\n

Wait a few minutes and repeat stirring session for chia pudding perfection. You do this to ensure that the chia doesn\u2019t clump together as it hydrates.<\/p>\n

Place in the fridge, covered for at least two hours or overnight. Top with the chopped apple and you\u2019ve got breakfast, to go!<\/p>\n

1\/3 cup quick cooking oats
\n\u00bc cup pumpkin
\n\u00bd scoop protein powder (pumpkin spice from Paleo Pro is fun!)
\n2\/3 cup SoFresh Oat Milk
\nGreek Yogurt
\nZespri Kiwifruit<\/a>
\nSpoonful jam
\nSprinkle cinnamon<\/p>\n

Combine the oats, pumpkin, protein powder and SoFresh Oat Milk in a saucepan and cook over medium for 5 minutes. Top with yogurt, cinnamon, jam, kiwifruit, pecans, or your favourite fruits and nuts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
