The Kingfisher Oceanside Resort and Spa – An Ideal Getaway For Any Season<\/h2>\n

This summer Michael and I spent a bit of time exploring British Columbia and a definite highlight was our night on the Island at the\u00a0Kingfisher Oceanside Resort and Spa<\/a>. My pal Dawn Schultz recently moved to the Island and is now the food and beverage manager at this resort, so we were due for a catch up and visit.\u00a0 We had the\u00a0Honda Civic Hatchback LX, which was great for zipping around\u00a0 the Island, with plenty of room for our luggage too.<\/p>\n

\"Kingfisher<\/a><\/p>\n

Our room faced the ocean and the view out to the\u00a0Gartley Bay Sea was amazing;\u00a0Michael spent quite a bit of time reading oceanside. The suites are roomy and have recently been updated with a fresh beachside feel.\u00a0 There’s no need for air conditioning in the summer as the ocean breeze keeps things fresh and in the cooler months, the rooms are cozy and warm.\u00a0 In fact there’s a fall mid-week getaway package on until March 7th, 2018, the\u00a0Rainy Day Getaway,\u00a0<\/strong>that includes three nights accommodation, an\u00a0<\/span>dining credit of $75 per person, a\u00a0<\/span>Spa credit of $75 per person, and o<\/span>ne visit to their Pacific Mist Hydropath\u00ae per person that starts at just $3<\/span>59 per person, and we’re planning on returning.<\/span><\/p>\n

As for this visit, we had a bit of time before dinner to relax and check out the heated pool.<\/p>\n

Dinner was superb. We started with the Caprese Salad with heirloom tomatoes, organic olive oil, local\u00a0Natural Pastures buffalo mozzarella, balsamic vinegar and basil, and the divine steak tartare with shallot, cornichon, Dijon mustard, parsley, a\u00a0quail egg, with a charred baguette.<\/p>\n

For main the seared sea scallops with asparagus & preserved lemon risotto, with\u00a0local mushroom, oven dried tomato and basil oil were among the best I’ve had and the herb crusted lamb sirloin with pototo gnocchi, saut\u00e9ed greens, ratatouille, garlic confit, and white anchovy salsa verde was a delight, super perfect gnocchi!<\/p>\n

The\u00a0 restaurant look fresh, having just completed a major reservation the service was spot on, and the wine and cocktail list are very well thought out. We wished we had time for more meals here.<\/p>\n

After a good night’s rest we tried onsite Pacific Mist Hydropath, a series of mineral pools, caves, baths, waterfalls, mineral soaks and river walks that take about an hour to journey through. The experience is relaxing and refreshing, we left feeling super clean rejuvenated. It’s a must when you visit the Kingfisher Resort, and we’d gladly do it again. Afterwards there’s the relaxation lounge to round out the experience.<\/p>\n
