What’s On Your Agenda Vancouver?<\/h3>\n

It’s been a busy week! I’ve been on the road at Christmas in November in Jasper, and researching a few other destinations. I’ll be glad to be home in Vancouver for a couple nights tomorrow and then off again to the Okanagan. Here’s a few suggestions for you in the meantime, more on the other adventures soon!<\/p>\n

On November 15 from 5 to 7 pm French Wine Celebrity Catherine Mellot (<\/strong>www.josephmellot.com)<\/strong> will<\/a> share her adventures in wine at Legacy Liquor Store in the Olympic Village.\u00a0 This event is open to the public. Mexican and Canadian Culinary Collaboration In Vancouver and Calgary – Nov. 21 and 23<\/h3>\n

The Mexico Tourism Board is presenting a special edition of the Gather dining series, with a Vancouver event at Fayuca<\/a> on November 21, and a Calgary dinner at Pigeonhole<\/a> on November 23.<\/p>\n

Mexican chefs Jair Tellez and Hugo Duran will collaborate with their Canadian counterparts, Ernesto Gomez and Martin Vargas at Fayuca, and Justin Leboe at Pigeonhole, to create a five course dinner that brings together the flavours, indigenous ingredients, local produce and techniques of the two countries. As part of the cultural exchange experience, the Mexican chefs will get to visit markets, go foraging and meet local producers with their hosts to source the ingredients for each dinner. Also making the trip north will be Noel Tellez and Alonso Maldonado from Bichi, a Baja California winery producing natural wines using minimal intervention and traditional methods. A selection of the wines will be available as pairings at the dinners.<\/p>\n

Tickets for each of the two dinners are $76\u00a0per person (inclusive of gratuity but not taxes) which includes botanas (pre-dinner snacks), three savoury courses and dessert. Each menu will be omnivore with a plant-based option, and will be developed by the collaborating chefs upon arrival in each city so that they can incorporate local foraged, farmed and wild products. Specially paired beverage selections, including Bichi wines, will be available at an extra cost. Tickets can be purchased online via EventBrite<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

St. Paul\u2019s Foundation Celebrates 20 Years of Giving on Nov. 16th<\/sup> with Lights of Hope<\/em> Celebration<\/strong>\u00a0 – Nov. 16<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Officially ringing in the holiday season in Vancouver, Lights of Hope<\/em> will return to St. Paul\u2019s Hospital on Thursday, November 16th<\/sup>. Switching on the 100,000 sparkling lights and more than 200 stars that make up the spectacular display, the community celebration marks the beginning of St. Paul\u2019s annual Lights of Hope<\/em> fundraising campaign which raises funding for the greatest needs of caregivers, patients, residents and loved ones across Providence Health Care\u2019s hospitals and residences.<\/p>\n

Bringing together thousands of British Columbians and tourists, the festive and family-friendly celebration will feature the official lighting of the display, fireworks, local choirs singing Christmas carols, hot chocolate and food trucks lining Burrard Street.<\/p>\n
