Potters Nursery Christmas Store<\/h2>\n

Growing up in Burlington, where I lived from the age of four until eight, we used to live around the corner from a place called The Elves Workshop, which seems to still exist, but not in the same spot. We also lived near a ravine, crematory and cemetery, which could explain a lot, but we’ll stick to my fondness for Christmas in this post, although it is worth mentioning our decorations include many day of the dead-themed ornaments. The workshop was open all year and it was 100% Christmas-themed, 100% of the time, and we adored going there, as we loved celebrations and all the decorating that came with it. My mother was, and still is awesome at creating that special holiday feeling around the house, and we’re looking forward to seeing my parents new house decorated for the holidays.<\/p>\n

\"Potters<\/a><\/p>\n

Now that I’ve got a place of my own, I’ve continued with my own style of home decor, which could be described as hoarder-chic perhaps, but I do try to tidy things up and get it looking ship shape for the holidays. In order to get into the spirit, for the second year in a row, we visited Potters Nursery in Surrey<\/a> and their 28,000 square feet of holiday decor. There’s every type of Christmas ornament, festive lights, crazy hats and glasses, holiday treats such as chocolates and special sauces, a lovely women’s clothing section and lots of great gift ideas too.<\/p>\n

\"Potters<\/a><\/p>\n

This year we picked up Day of the Dead holiday lights, a couple Santa hats, one with “Naughty”<\/em> on it and one with “Nice”<\/em>, some stockings (the kind you wear, not hang), a few ornaments and some candles as well. It’s hard to leave without a bag full of goodies, and, in my case, impossible. I can’t wait to get decorating next weekend once I’m back from a little trip south.<\/p>\n

After Potters, we’d worked up a bit of an appetite, so decide to stop in for lunch at Tap Restaurant in Surrey, a wonderful spot with an excellent wine list and cozy room. There’s passionate people at work here, and it shows.<\/p>\n

We shared some baked brie, a beet salad and some flatbread, perfectly-cooked risotto and the tastiest turkey clubhouse I’ve ever had.<\/p>\n

Just when I thought I couldn’t have another bite, profiteroles arrived and I suddenly had room for one and a slice of chocolate that appeared as well. Highly recommend you repeat this menu when you visit, and bring friends so you can share.
