What To Do In Vancouver This Week<\/h2>\n

We’re in the midst of Dine Out Vancouver<\/strong> (we had some pics last week here<\/strong><\/a>), the arts scene is buzzing, and there’s much focus on getting healthy, spending their time at the gym, focusing on self-care and rejuvenation.\u00a0 Where’s your focus this year? Have you found one yet? It’s never too late to start! I just launched into my newest fitness journey last week on January 15 with the Fit Body Boot Camp<\/strong> and am loving it now, although at times I feel it’s going killing me! If you want to try a free class, check them out at Fit Body Boot Camp<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>for three free classes, and maybe I’ll see you there.\u00a0 There’s also a few other reasons to throw on your rain-boots and get out there that don’t involve near death experience, and here’s our suggestions.<\/p>\n

Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival Until February 14<\/b><\/h3>\n

Why this has to take place while I’m eating light, I don’t know, but perhaps I’ll just sample a few as there’s some pretty healthy chocies out there too! With 35 contributing \u201cchocstars\u201d and over 75 flavours to choose from, the Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival returns this bigger and better than ever. It’s a truly local celebration, as no commercial chocolate manufacturers or national coffee chains dominate the program. For its fans from around the world or anyone who just loves chocolate, the Festival shines as a showcase for our city\u2019s most talented artisan food producers, chefs and locally based, independent businesses.\u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

We’re off to the opening tonight! Billed us “A MODERN FABLE OF BATTLING BROTHERS”, this performance features African-American brothers Lincoln and Booth\u2014birth names given as a joke that sets up an intense rivalry\u2014 who share a seedy, one-room apartment and are looking for easy money in cards. Things are tight and only get tighter when their competition grows and their lies exceed their truths. When there isn\u2019t room for both to succeed,\u00a0who will come out on top? <\/strong>We’ll find out tonight.<\/p>\n

Butcher at the Butcher to offer a full evening of craft beer and meaty delights on January 24<\/strong><\/h3>\n

If we could be two places at once, we’d be at the Butcher & Bullock tonight. The Donnelly Group<\/strong> is partnering with Two Rivers Meats<\/strong> and Postmark Brewing<\/strong> for \u201cButcher at the Butcher<\/strong>\u201d a very special Dine Out Vancouver event matching local craft beer and a dizzying range of locally-sourced meat dishes and being held at The Butcher & Bullock<\/strong> in the heart of Downtown.<\/p>\n

Donnelly Group Executive Chef Alvin Pillay has put together a menu which include stations for Brisket Sliders, Fried Chicken and Sausage Plates along with a spread of canap\u00e9s ranging from lamb belly and Duck Wings to Pork Ribs, Bresaola, and Candied Bacon, all to be paired with beers from Postmark Brewing chosen by Bar & Beverage Director Trevor Kallies.<\/p>\n

The event will take place on Wednesday, January 24th<\/sup> at The Butcher & Bullock at 911 Pender St. West. With over 24 draft taps, The Butcher & Bullock is the Financial District\u2019s destination for craft beer, warm pub welcomes, and the best Happy Hour in the neighbourhood. The Fraser Valley Distillery Festival<\/strong>\u00a0is back, with more spirits and liqueurs than ever! January 26th at 7:00 pm<\/h3>\n

It’s a bit far out for us here in Vancouver, but if you are further out in the Valley or have a designated driver, head to the the Chilliwack Academy of Music<\/strong>\u00a0for craft spirits and liqueurs, paired with delectable appies and live entertainment on Friday. Twenty plus distilleries are represented from BC\u2019s best craft and micro distilleries, with craft vodkas, gins, single malt whiskeys, fruit liqueurs, flavoured liqueurs and more.\u00a0 There\u2019s something for everyone – whether that be one of the moonshines or after dark burner vodka from\u00a0After Dark Distillery<\/strong>, or the jackknife gin or vital vodka from\u00a0Roots and Wings Distillery<\/strong>, or the sunshine liqueur from\u00a0Shelter Point Distillery<\/strong>.
