The Canadian Culinary Championships are on and I met all the chefs last night! Very exciting things are happening right now in the kitchens at the Okanagan College as they prepare for tonight’s event.\u00a0 Chef Takashi Ito is our local BC winner and I had interviewed him before he competed and won in Victoria, so I’ve copied a bit from that interview and added a bit more from more recent conversations. Chef Ito with the mystery wine received last night. The chef are now preparing a dish to match the wine that will be served tonight.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n

Tell us a little bit about your restaurant and\/or style of cooking.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Uniqueness of the menu offering, one of the best waterfront view in the city.<\/p>\n

Where do you eat in your city?<\/strong><\/p>\n

AURA\u00a0 \u2026 of course. \u201cYou won\u2019t find the dishes at AURA anywhere else\u201d.<\/p>\n

Fishhook\u00a0 serves Indian- and French-influenced seafood. The Vin\u2019daloo\u2019d Seafood Hotpot is wonderful<\/p>\n

Nubo\u00a0 Japanese-Korean tapas, inspired by Izakaya dining, and very modern and beautifully presented.<\/p>\n

Kid Sister Ice Cream\u00a0 Everything that goes into Kid Sister\u2019s ice cream is locally sourced, which of course is very important to me.<\/p>\n

What would be your ideal food day?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Everyday us a food day for me. I don\u2019t want to waste an opportunity to eat good food. Right now, it\u2019s Banh Mi @ Alysa\u2019s, one to eat in & one to go.<\/p>\n

What ingredient do you always have on hand?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Soy sauce<\/p>\n

\"pumpkin<\/a><\/p>\n

What\u2019s your go-to recipe when you\u2019re eating at home?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Japanese style pork curry \u2013 a childhood favourite<\/p>\n

What cookbook are you most interested in lately?<\/strong><\/p>\n

This may be kind of boring, but I do not read cookbooks or watch the food channel these days.<\/p>\n
