Sip Some Delicious Drinks During The Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival<\/h2>\n

With the chill descending over the Lower Mainland, there\u2019s no better time to warm up with some inspired creations courtesy of the 2020 Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival<\/a>, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary with a 28-day celebration that\u2019s bigger and better than each edition that came before and showcases 114 hot chocolate flavours at 44 local purveyors.<\/p>\n

We got some news from about some of the creations available at Origo Club and Honolulu Cafe and have some recipes for you to make these at home should you choose.<\/p>\n

ORIGO CLUB in\u00a0<\/strong>Richmond<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"yin<\/a><\/p>\n

\u2018Yin’<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 A creamy dark chocolate blend infused with aromatic earl grey, served with a buttery, house-baked madeleine. ($6.50) Available from January 18 to February 20.<\/p>\n

\u2018Yang’<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 A unique, bright and smooth yuzu blonde hot chocolate, served with a buttery, house-baked madeleine. ($6.50) Available from January 18 to February 20.<\/p>\n

\"yinandyang<\/a><\/p>\n

‘Yin-Yang’<\/strong> \u2014 Bringing together the best of both worlds, this double hot chocolate flight features both the creamy dark earl grey hot chocolate (\u2018yin\u2019) and bright yuzu blonde hot chocolate (\u2018yang\u2019) and is served with a couple of buttery, house-baked madeleines. Available from February 1 to 20 only.<\/p>\n

Aloha Macs<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 This creation mingles dark chocolate ganache with steamed macadamia milk and is topped with crushed and roasted macadamia nuts. Paired with house-made lillikoi (passionfruit) macadamia nut butter cookies. ($9.50)<\/p>\n

\"brokdamout<\/a><\/p>\n

‘Brok Da Mout\u2019<\/strong> \u2014 Inspired by the Hawaiian Pidgin saying about delicious food (i.e. \u2018that food was so good it broke da mouth\u2019), this creation is a blend of dark chocolate, hibiscus ginger tea, ginger with honey, steamed coconut milk and a trace of cardamom. Paired with house-made coconut chocolate biscotti. ($8.50)<\/p>\n

RECIPES from the Hot Chocolate Festival<\/strong><\/p>\n

Aloha Macs Hot Chocolate<\/strong><\/h3>\n

35g Fleur de Cao™ 70% dark chocolate
\n3oz 10% half and half cream
\n3oz \u2018Milkadamia\u2019 macadamia milk
\n10ml macadamia syrup
\n2g roasted macadamia nuts<\/p>\n

Simmer the half and half cream in saucepan
\nPour hot cream over chocolate and whisk into ganache
\nSteam the macadamia milk to 155F and pour over ganache with macadamia syrup, mix well
\nSprinkle crushed macadamia nuts on top
\nEnjoy with Aloha!<\/p>\n

\u2018Brok Da Mout\u2019 Hot Chocolate<\/strong><\/h3>\n

35g Fleur de Cao™ 70% Dark Chocolate
\n5oz coconut milk
\n10g honey ginger sauce (see below)
\n10ml hibiscus ginger tea concentrate (see below)\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Melt dark chocolate in saucepan
\nSteam coconut milk with melted chocolate together to 155F
\nPour over honey ginger sauce and mix well
\nAdd hibiscus ginger tea concentrate<\/p>\n

Honey Ginger Sauce<\/strong>
\n50g ginger, chopped into small pieces (or blend for stronger ginger taste)
\n50g honey
\n100g water<\/p>\n

Place all ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil
\nReduce heat and simmer for 30 mins
\nCan be stored in refrigerator for up to seven days<\/p>\n

Hibiscus Ginger concentrate<\/strong>
\n50g hibiscus ginger team from Firepot Nomadic Teas
\n100g water
\n50g sugar<\/p>\n

Place all ingredients in a pot and bring to a boil
\nReduce heat and simmer for 5 mins
