The Wine Deal at Save-on-Foods<\/strong><\/p>\n

Great Wine Deal<\/strong><\/p>\n

This week I\u2019m sharing a Great Wine Deal that I stumbled upon! The deal I am talking about is this offer from Save-on-Foods. Use your Save-on-More card when you buy 12 bottles and get 10% off the purchase, plus an additional $1 a bottle. Nowhere in the province can you get a deal like this. Nowhere!<\/p>\n

Backstory<\/strong><\/p>\n

In 2015, the laws in BC changed to allow wine, specifically BC VQA Wine, to be sold in grocery stores. It was recently ruled that the selling BC VQA wine only<\/em> is in contravention of the World Trade Organization so changes are coming to accommodate international brands. In the meantime, Save-on-Foods now has 17 wine licenses. In the first year alone, they sold 1 million bottles. It\u2019s remarkable.<\/p>\n

Wine Wednesday Choices<\/strong><\/p>\n

My mom loves wine. She takes a bottle every week to her Friday Friends gathering. It\u2019s what you do when you are 80. This week she asked if I would take her wine shopping because she didn\u2019t want to deplete my collection. How thoughtful of her. She has some grocery shopping to do and she likes to shop at Save-on-Foods in the neighborhood. As it turned out we not only got our grocery shopping done (yes the toilet paper aisle was bare) but we also ended up shopping for wine.<\/p>\n

Wines We Bought<\/strong><\/p>\n

Here is a summary of what we bought. Mom\u2019s criteria was red wine only and screw cap preferred which was all but Winemaker\u2019s Cut Syrah.\u00a0 The least expensive bottle wasWayne Gretzky Red Blend $13.42 after discounts and the most expensive bottle was Winemaker\u2019s Cut Syrah at $23.81 after discounts.<\/p>\n
