Provence\u2019s December Wine Menu \u2013<\/strong> A Celebration of Good Taste<\/strong><\/h2>\n

We had a sneak peek of the December celebration at Provence in December and it’s a delicious combination of some of BC’s best wines and perfectly paired dishes.\u00a0 The next menu in the Monthly Wine Menu series at Provence Marinaside<\/a><\/strong>. highlights Mission Hill Family Estate Winery<\/a>, and the selections feature three of the winery\u2019s most sophisticated wines \u2013 Legacy Perpetua Chardonnay 2018<\/a> and two vintages of Oculus including the exceedingly rare 2006<\/a> and the iconic 2014<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Provence Owner\/Chef Jean Francis Quaglia and Chef de Cuisine Sheldon Maloff have created two special dishes to complement the wines \u2013 Seared Scallops (sweet corn velout\u00e9, bacon and chives) and Roast Duck Breast (with foie gras sauce). The dishes are unique to the Monthly Wine Menu and do not appear on Provence Marinaside\u2019s regular menu<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Unlike previous Monthly Wine Menus where a single wine was paired with a course, December\u2019s menu offers patrons the singular opportunity to experience two Oculus vintages with the Roast Duck Breast. \u201cThese wines, and especially the two Oculus vintages, are exceedingly rare. We are fortunate to have them in limited quantities,\u201d says Provence Wine Director Joshua Carlson. \u201cWe wanted to mark the end of this horrible year with this Wine menu; presenting these special wines closes the year on just the right note of celebration.\u201d<\/p>\n

Harvested from four individual blocks on Mission Hill\u2019s eastern Osoyoos and Naramata Ranch vineyard estates. Historic\u00a0French Burgundian Dijon clones were used for this Chardonnay.

\nThe fruit aromas are on the green apple and pear side of the spectrum. <\/em>There are pronounced notes of butterscotch, nuttiness, and some spice.\u00a0 <\/em>However the oak treatment is very well balanced. Brilliant acidity.<\/em><\/p>\n

These complex Oculus Bordeaux-style wines are the result of meticulous selection in the vineyard estate with grapes that have been specifically nurtured for this rare wine.

\nCaptivating aromas of black cherry fruit, dark chocolate and shaved <\/em>vanilla beans lead the way for densely packed flavours of blackberries, plum, <\/em>and bittersweet ganache. Deep, complex, intense and concentrated.<\/em>

The December\u2019s Mission Hill Family Estate Wine Menu is priced at $57 for the two-course food menu with the selected wine pairing available for an additional $74 for all three wines (petit pour is $40), or if you prefer, the wines can be purchased individually by the glass or bottle.<\/p>\n
