Miantiao to Open at Vancouver’s Shangri-La Hotel June 17th<\/h2>\n

Award-winning, BC-based Kitchen Table Restaurants will introduce locals and visitors alike to a culinary exploration unlike any other when it officially opens the doors of Miantiao inside the Shangri-La Hotel, Vancouver<\/a> on Thursday, June 17<\/strong> at 7 p.m.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Offering a unique marriage of Italian and Chinese culinary philosophies, techniques and cultural traditions, Miantiao \u2014 derived from the Mandarin word for \u2018noodle\u2019, a staple of both cuisines \u2014 will be open for daily breakfast, lunch, dinner and weekend brunch.<\/p>\n

Under the direction of General Manager Hao-Yang Wang<\/strong> (Farmer\u2019s Apprentice, Grapes & Soda, West<\/em>), Miantiao\u2019s back-of-house team is led by Kitchen Table Culinary Director Alex Tung<\/strong>, Executive Chef Tret Jordan<\/strong> (Loden Hotel, Wentworth Hospitality)<\/em> and Chef de Cuisine Justin Lee<\/strong> (Superflux, Crowbar)<\/em>, all of whom will collaborate on a menu that will transport guests on a stimulating journey for the senses and the culinary ties that bind both countries.<\/p>\n

Miantiao\u2019s artful menu<\/a> will showcase a range of creative culinary innovations, with the intention behind each dish a playfully provocative approach that extends far beyond boundaries. Highlights from the dinner menu include Burrata<\/strong> (Burrata Pugliese, XO sauce, scallion pancakes, deRobertis olive oil); <\/em>Tajarin<\/strong> (butter, quantum beef seasoning); <\/em>Merluzzo Nero<\/strong> (sablefish, cured pork, olive, borlotti bean); <\/em>and a unique, four-course Aged Whole Duck<\/strong> experience that serves four to six guests.<\/p>\n

At the bar, Gianluigi Bosco<\/strong> (Lombardi, Shangri-La Vancouver<\/em>) has designed an intriguing list of signature cocktails and zero-proof libations that includes the Bamboolvardier<\/strong> (bourbon, herbal bamboo liquor, white bitters, fortified wine) <\/em>Kun-Mi-To<\/strong> (campari, sweet vermouth, carbonated white tea, bitters)<\/em>; 5 Spice Daiquiri<\/strong> (rum, 5 spice falernum, lime juice);<\/em> and Sambuco Frizzante<\/strong> (dry vermouth, gin, elderflower soda), <\/em>among others.<\/p>\n

Wine Director\u00a0David Steele<\/strong>\u00a0(South by Southwest Wine Imports, Shangri-La Vancouver<\/em>) has curated a program that runs the gamut from bold and lesser-known old-world varietals to celebrated styles hailing from vineyards right here in BC\u2019s backyard, all of which were handpicked to pair with the inspired cuisine and add to the sense of discovery that is part of every dining experience.<\/p>\n

The realization of Miantiao\u2019s lively space comes as the result of a cross-collaboration between Kitchen Table, Westbank Corp.<\/a>, and Zara Sangha of Zara Interior Design<\/a>. Its design and d\u00e9cor scheme tips its hat to the creative collision of cultures and showcases architectural and design artistry at every turn \u2014 gilded archways, communal banquettes, splashes of crimson, marble and gold and intimate dining enclaves all imbue the space with style to spare.<\/p>\n
