\"\"<\/a>The lobby of the Hyatt Regency Vancouver <\/a>is home to the annual gingerbread contest (exhibit runs until December 26),\u00a0an event where\u00a0culinary schools, high schools and corporations compete to craft the best gingerbread house.\u00a0 Points are given for originality, level of difficulty, overall appearance, and attention to detail.\u00a0 I have judged for the past two years and it’s an absolute delight to see how much effort everyone is willing to put in.\u00a0 Some of the high school students are certainly destined for a career in the culinary arts.\u00a0The highschool level winner this year did the project solo, while most contributed as a group.\u00a0 True talent.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The event is a fundraiser for the Make a Wish Foundation<\/a>, so there are some great stories told at the award ceremony along with some snacks and drinks.\u00a0 This year, The Hyatt Regency’s talented Executive chef, Norbert Roesch, arranged for\u00a0sliders, papadams with baba ganoush and homous, chicken skewers, popcorn shrimp and make your own Japa-dogs.\u00a0 The\u00a0kids (and adults) especially dove into the mini hot dogs and dressed them up in style. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
