Weekly Goods – Fish Fights, Fish Sales and More

Events this week and on the Horizon

New(ish) for this week we are switching “What’s Good Week of” (because that title was kind of silly) to “Weekly Goods”. Each week (well most weeks) we will bring you what’s up for the week, a couple good things on the Horizon, and perhaps a few other good things. Does this sound too much like Martha Stewart’s “It’s good thing”?

Cirque du Soleil TOTEM May 15 – June 19, 2014

show_totemBilled as “a fascinating journey into the evolution of mankind” the newest  Cirque du Soleil performance runs from May 15-June 19, 2014 under the blue-and-yellow big top at Concord Pacific Place. Tickets at www.cirquedusoleil.com/totem. We”ll be checking it out on opening night and will report back on what is sure to be an amazing spectacle!

Written and directed by multidisciplinary artist Robert Lepage, TOTEM is an uplifting array of athleticism, comedy, heartfelt emotions and sublime visual effects brought to the stage by a cast of 45 acrobats, actors, musicians and singers.

With scenes from the story of evolution randomly linked together in a chain, TOTEM traces humankind`s fascinating journey – from its original amphibian state to its ultimate desire to fly. Somewhere between science and legend, it also explores the ties that bind Man to other species, his dreams and his infinite potential.

TOTEM-QUEBEC

Alternating between primitive and modern myths, and peppered with aboriginal stories of creation, TOTEM echoes and explores the evolutionary process of species, our ongoing search for balance, and the curiosity that propels us ever further, faster, and higher…
