I was going through my photos and was going to pick the top 12, or perhaps the top dish I sampled from every month, but there were too many damn delicious things to account for. I decided to break it up into a few posts and started in January when I had the great fortune to attend the Cayman Island Cookout. I thought I could devote an entire article to this festival alone, and so I did. Before the actual cookout I had a few days to check out some of the recommended island restaurants. I went to La Brasserie…

Now that we’ve almost got Christmas out of the way, it is time to think about New Year’s Eve plans. While I have spent the last few years at home (don’t worry not ALONE) there’s a few spots that are VERY tempting and I may just hit the town this year (WATCH OUT). Here’s a few I’d consider and you should too. Mamie Taylors The unusual theme of Lumberjack and Ballerina-themed ball at Mamie Taylors is sure to be unusual if nothing else. Until January 5, 2014 afternoon tea with an Arabian twist is being served in the Xi-Shi Lounge at the Shangri-La Hotel Vancouver. Skip lunch and feast instead on the sandwiches, scones and sweets offered at afternoon tea; it’s just so civilized. The hotel lobby bar, where the tea is served, is especially appealing right now as it’s decked out with flowing fabrics from the middle east and there’s even a Merchants Market as you enter offering hand-roasted nuts, dried fruits, spices, as well as hand-made jewelry and custom Persian rugs. Take a break from your holiday shopping and imagine yourself far…

Lucky for us it is St. Hubertus and Game Weekend at Oyama Sausage from Friday Dec. 6th-Sunday Dec. 8th . We snuck down to Granville Island for a sampling today (pictured on the left) and ate almost a whole duck-worth of duck proscuitto. There is still some left for you, however.
