On a rainy day in August we headed out to Krause Berry Farm to check out a preview for the upcoming September 8, 2013 Metro Vancouver Feast of Fields. I adore Krause Berry Farm for their corn pizzas, pies, ice cream, u-pick fruit and excellent hospitality. Whole Foods, Chicha and Forage were all out with some samples of what is to come on the big day. Chicha did delicious little salmon burgers. Whole Foods corn cakes with smoked salmon. Forage some tasty pickled veggies. We also sampled some of the fruit wines along with fresh berries from the farm. While…

Randy Boyer and Andrea Donsky are the people behind The Healthy Shopper Picks, natural, organic and eco-conscious choices to help Canadian families eat and live healthier. I’m going to dish a little here about myself and deter from my usual posts on all the great food I eat. I’ve embarked on a journey of self-improvement and as an added motivator I am going to commit to checking in here to ensure I’m accountable. I’ve judged myself enough so I hope you’ll go lightly on me. Work What You Got It had been a fantastic summer, one filled with fabulous food, stellar cocktails, and new experiences with Vancouver’s ever growing craft beers and BC wine. Along the way attempts at balancing these indulgences were made with some…
I recently tested out the new Ford Fiesta 2014. When I saw the line up of cars I wanted one thing, the car colour that was called Green Envy! I once painted my red car green and have missed that auto-mobile ever since giving it. Rather shallow, I know, but there is of course more to the Fiesta than the ten zippy colours of the car. It is the smallest of the cars Ford has to offer that starts at around $14,000 and comes in either a five-door hatchback or four-door sedan. The base engine is 120-hp, 1.6-liter four cylinder which is…

September 8, Madrona Farm – This event is best described as a combination between Iron Chef and Tough Mudder! Cheer on your favorite chefs as they prove their dedication to local sustainable ingredients and the lengths they will go to protect the farmland that provides them. The chefs hang, hurdle, balance, zipline, climb, crawl, race their boats to condiment island and then round the 24 acre mountainous Madrona Farm to forage for the vegetables for their masterpieces, which they will then cook for you all on camping gear. This event could quite possibly be the best day of your life,…
