Granola Girl Granola

granola-girl-bag-large1I think I’ve finally gotten over my aversion to Granola. As a kid there wasn’t Count Dracula or any sort of Captain Crunch sugar-filled cereals available in the cupboards at our home, instead Mom made granola. When I had sleepovers all my pals loved her version and asked for seconds, but as one that was offered it as the only solution day after day, I was not impressed. It was also the standard answer for what was for dessert – fruit, yogurt and granola of course! ARGH!

As a result, I’ve made an effort to stay clear of granola until recently when I discovered Granola Girl. I’d seen their logo’d vehicle around town, and finally was given a sample at the EAT Vancouver show that I rapidly went through and have even bought more.

The ingredients ingredient list includes organic oats, organic dried cranberries, non-gmo sunflower oil, maple syrup, organic cane sugar, organic coconut, organic sesame seeds, organic pumpkin seeds, organic goji berries, organic hemp seeds, almonds, salt. It’s not low cal or fat free so the 1/3 cup serving is 130 calories, but they’re the good kind and include ingredients that fill you up. I add a splash of dairy milk, but choose your own additions such as yogurt or soy or almond milk, or just nibble straight from the package as a trail mix. This is good and tasty fuel, and as for Count Dracula, I really don’t care if they even make that stuff anymore.
