On April 18, Julien Thomas and Yash present the 28th edition of Late Nite Art with special artist in residence guest Perrin Grauer for a one-of-a-kind explorative art and dinner party, all happening inside Revolver’s gorgeous Archive in historic Gastown.
Through experimental art making, fresh local food, and gratuitous beats, Late Nite Art brings the community together in a fun social art experience to share conversation, art, food and drinks. A facilitator, a chef, an artist, and a photographer combine forces to create an intimate socially conducive environment and produce an engaging and entertaining night.
The long communal table at Archive gets covered with drawing paper and art supplies straight out of elementary school. Facilitator Julien Thomas leads the hands-on experience with an introduction followed by a short talk from artist in residence Perrin Grauer.
The action begins when guests are asked to pair up with a new friend and grab a large charcuterie board to share. Food enthusiast Yash thoughtfully curates and prepares the food, with selection of artisanal breads, cheeses, meats, and accompaniments. Following the inception of Late Nite Art in 2011, founder Julien Thomas continues to create community gathering spaces through his signature events, and public art instillations. Through each project as a social artist, Julien creates highly engaging environments for participants to interact with and form new connections.
Many will recognize Grauer as the manager of Railtown’s Alibi Room. The talented Grauer undertook BFA studies in Halifax at NSCAD and graduated from UBC in 2010. He has exhibited nationally, and currently lives and works in his hometown of Vancouver.
Yash is the owner of local food start-up Yummus Hummus, a pop-up activator as co-owner of Chinatown Experiment, and lends his passion for food to Late Nite Art. He most recenlty put his passion for food and pop-ups together to create Film Feast, a one-night dinner and movie pop-up.
