Le Gavroche Restaurant Introduces Regional Tasting Menu’s

Explore the Haute Cuisine of France, One Month at a Time

Vancouver’s longest standing French restaurant, Le Gavroche is introducing a series of monthly tasting menu’s exploring the culinary characteristics of various regions of France. A four course tasting menu will be featured throughout the month, and set at $49 per person with a $49 wine pairing option.

April will debut with the region of Burgundy, or ‘Bourgogne’ as the French would say. Crafted by Executive Chef Robert Guest, this four course menu will feature sophisticated yet simple combinations specific to the region. Simplicity is not only a part of Burgundy cuisine, but also Chef Guest’s approach in the kitchen. His creations center on this notion. “My favourite ingredients are simple; a nice bottle of wine, exotic vinegars, salt, pepper and a really nice olive oil. I believe simple techniques make for better results. Once you start to make things too complicated, you lose the connection between your customers and the food,” says Chef Guest.

For the month of April, the Le Gavroche tasting menu will be a tribute to the pure country beauty, tradition and cultural fascination that Burgundy represents. As Burgundy is a France region well-known for its fine cuisine and internationally acclaimed wine, General Manager David Fert will enrich the tasting menu with specially selected Burgundy wine pairings. There will also be a special Regional Highlight Night on April 12, 2012 featuring five courses and some of the finest wine pairings Le Gavroche has to offer.
