This Belgian-style dark ale is made with Crystal, Pilsner and Munich malts. A very clean beer with aromas of caramel, malt and rye bread, cocoa and espresso. On the palate the beer is balanced, a touch sweet, but not cloyingly so, with some caramel, malt, and coffee notes and a nutty finish. Pairs well with braised short ribs. Try these coffee-braised short ribs with ancho chile. I’ve made them twice and they were much loved.
About Stanley Park Brewery
Stanley Park Brewery is Canada’s first sustainably-focused brewery and one of the most technologically advanced breweries of its size in North America. Being locally owned and operated is an important distinction and part of our proud heritage which dates back to 1897 when our namesake brewery was established on the south shore of Lost Lagoon in Stanley Park. Our beers, Stanley Park 1897 Amber, Stanley Park Noble Pilsner, and Stanley Park Brun, honour our region’s distinctive past and bring this history to life through historic images and narratives on labels of our craft beer. The future of the environment is at the forefront of everything we do and our Canadian-built wind turbine enables us to harness the power of the wind to brew completely natural beer using much less energy than a regular brewery.
