Tinhorn Creek and Manuel Ferreira team up to launch Miradoro – the South Okanagan’s premiere winery restaurant

on

On April 1, 2011, Miradoro restaurant will open its doors to the public. A joint venture between Tinhorn Creek and restaurateur Manuel Ferreira (of Vancouver’s famed Le Gavroche) Miradoro will bring a world-class dining experience to the South Okanagan.

Perched on the picturesque Tinhorn Creek estate, on the famed Golden Mile, Miradoro (which roughly translates to “Golden View” in Iberian) will offer sweeping views of the scenic South Okanagan valley and will feature Mediterranean-influenced cuisine that showcases the region’s local farmers and producers. Designed by award-winning Okanagan architect Nick Bevanda, Miradoro will offer seating for 65 people indoors, and another 65 outdoors on a wrap-around patio.

Heading the kitchen will be Executive Chef Jeff Van Geest, whose background includes some of Vancouver’s finest restaurants (Bishop’s, Diva at the Met) as well as his own award-wining restaurant Aurora Bistro. At Aurora Bistro, Van Geest championed both localingredients as well as sustainable and environmentally sound operating practices. A former Vancouver Magazine Green Award winner, Van Geest is a perfect fit with Tinhorn Creek’s focus on sustainability. Chef Van Geest’s menu will be designed with wine pairings in mind and will draw influence from the rustic dishes of the Mediterranean while paying homage to the bounty of theOkanagan.

Under Ferreira’s leadership, Miradoro will no doubt become known for the warm hospitality that has made Le Gavroche famous. By his side will be Miradoro’s General Manager and Sommelier, Justin McAuliffe. Justin is a 15-year industry veteran who honed his craft at some of Canada’s top restaurants, including Centro and Canoe in Toronto, and most recently C Restaurant in Vancouver.

Miradoro’s wine program will feature all of Tinhorn Creek’s wines, including rare vintages and varietals that are exclusive to the restaurant. Ferreira has also hand-picked a selection of wines from across the Okanagan, making Miradoro a destination to truly experience the tastes of the region.

Miradoro will open to the public on April 1. For those who want a sneak peak, a limited number of “soft-launch” tables will be available starting March 23. Reservations for these tables can be made from March 16 onwards by contacting manny@miradoro.ca.
