Tickets are still available for the flagship event of the 13th Annual Winter Festival of Wine, the Sun Peaks WestJet Progressive Tasting, on Friday, January 21, 2011.
On a night where wine rookies blend with connoisseurs, hotel lobbies throughout the ski-through/pedestrian village at Sun Peaks are filled with guests sniffing, swirling and sampling. Over 20 wineries have set up mock tasting stations in hotel lobbies throughout the ski-through/pedestrian village at Sun Peaks and each winery is pouring multiple varietals. Mission Hill, Hester Creek, and Sandhill Winery provide just a few of the options for tasting.
The Progressive Tasting is just one of over 20 wine events scheduled over a nine day span at the world class destination resort located in the heart of the British Columbia Interior. Imagine skiing or snowboarding in the morning and being hosted to an amazing array of wine events in the afternoon and evening. January 15-23, 2011, the former Icewine Festival brings half a dozen new events to the menu during this epic week of culinary adventures.
The Farm to Fork Kick-off (Jan. 15) will have guests mingling and tasting featured wines and culinary treats that highlight regional Sun Peaks food suppliers, while enjoying live unplugged cover songs of The Rolling Stones.
Port & Cheese: After the Après Social (Jan. 20) is an evening of port style wines from the Okanagan, specially paired with great Canadian diary chesses prevented by the Dairy Farmers of Canada.
Wine cocktails are front and centre at the Wine Mixology and Small Bites (Jan. 21) where guests will relax to music from a local DJ while sampling specialty cocktails made with Okanagan wines and enjoying tapas-style small bites.
Wrap up your Wine Festival experience in style at Mantles Crêperie (Jan. 23) with a traditional-style buffet breakfast showcasing crêpes flambéed deliciously with Okanagan fruit wines.
