Named Sommelier of the year in 2012 by Vancouver Magazine, California Sunset Magazine, and Vancouver International Wine Festival Terry Threlfall has officially launched his own wine TNT – Terry Nicholas Threlfall – Cerqueira Vineyard – 2012 Chardonnay -Okanagan Valley BC – VQA. 

This opportunity came about as a collaboration of the Okanagan Wine Campus, a mentorship program created in 2011 by Okanagan Crush Pad, and the beneficiary of the proceeds of the wine sales, B.C. Hospitality Foundation’s Wine Scholarship Fund. 

The purpose of the Okanagan Wine Campus is to provide a unique opportunity for the individual awarded the distinction of Sommelier of the Year to create his or her own wine. The Sommelier chooses their grape varietal and is a full partner in the process of the wine making, blending, bottling and marketing of the wine including the creative design of the wine label and naming of the wine.

A clever take on Threlfall’s initials and the addition of an “explosive warning” icon the label, always in distinctive black and white, graces a bottle of Chardonnay described as “pale yellow with a tinge of green, with aromas of bright citrus fruits and apricot, with hints of green apple and a chalky minerality”. The choice of Chardonnay was an obvious one for Threlfall who is passionate about the wines of Burgundy.

Since its inception in 2011 Okanagan Wine Campus has provided this distinctive opportunity to Kurtis Kolt in 2010, Owen Knowlton in 2011, Terry Threlfall in 2012, and in 2013 to Samantha Rahn of Araxi Restaurant who will introduce her Syrah in 2014.

The proceeds of the sale of Threlfall’s TNT 2012 Chardonnay will add to the sum of  $10,000 that has already been awarded to eleven hospitality candidates to further their levels of wine certification.
