Faye Smith Make Up Studio Yumi Lash Lift & Tint
Last year I loved the lash extensions but they just weren’t sustainable. I must be an aggressive sleeper because I’d wake up with the lashes having come off on my pillow and I can’t stand sitting still, so when I had to go get a fill I would get very fidgety. Another alternative, I learned, is the lash lift, so I decided to give this one a try as I am rather disadvantaged on the eyelash front, so I can use any help I can get.
Faye Smith has a make up and hair studio on East 4th, just east of Main and came highly recommended. The studio is so very pretty and is actually available for rental as a photography or event venue should you require one. The lighting is great as there are floor to ceiling windows and there are 3 make up and hair stations.
The lift I had was a Yumi Lash Lift and Tint and it made a world of difference and lasted about two months. It was a bit uncomfortable sitting still that long, but as opposed to the extensions, I didn’t have to go back every week. The process took about an hour and a half and it involves curling, elongates and tinting your lashes black. It’s not the same as a lash perm as lash perms use perm solution and a rod which results in extremely curly lashes, but no length and it is damaging.
The Yumi Lash Lift & Tint is $150, uses Keratin based products and various sized silicone moulds suitable for various lash length, giving maximum length and curl results. It was uncomfortable, but I eventually settled down and relaxed even, and it was not painful in any way. I loved the result! Afterwards, you can’t touch your lashes for 24 hours and then you can rinse off the treatment oils left behind and allow them to dry and fluff up. From them on, your lashes are your lashes, zero maintenance required. You can even go swimming, rub your eyes and wear mascara. I did need to use mascara still as my eyelashes are pretty sparse, but many find they don’t need them.
I may just have to go back this week for my birthday!
