The Mount Pleasant BIA will be hosting The Smoking Sausage BBQ Cook-Off on Saturday, July 30^th 2011 from 5 pm to 9 pm in the alley west of Main between Broadway and West 8^th Avenue (100 Block E Broadway).  The Event is co-hosted by Livable Laneways and VIVA Vancouver’s PATHS TO PLAZAS Laneway Markets Event Series.

Foodies are invited to sample the unique creations by Burgoo Bistro, The Cascade Room, Hyde Restaurant, The Rumpus Room and Eight ½ Restaurant Lounge and vote on who can take home the bragging rights and trophy.  Reminiscent of back street pedestrian oasis found around the world, though perhaps not until now in Vancouver, the laneway will be transformed for the evening, into an almost lounge-like atmosphere, with music, pop up theatre and a night market.

All sausages will be the creation of Main Street’s own Master Sausage Maker Drews Driessen of D-Original Sausage Co. in accordance with recipes supplied by the participating restaurants. Condiments will enhance the uniqueness of their offering. Cobs Bread is donating all the buns and giving away tasty samples.  Cuppa Joe and Starbucks Coffee will be supplying free coffee.

For a $3 dollar donation you are invited to join in the fun and sample delicious BBQ Sausages from each participating restaurant, while quantities last, with all proceeds going to the Vancouver Food Bank.  Vote for your favourite sausage and you get a chance to win a $25.00 restaurant gift certificate as well as an amazing taste experience.
